Metro PCS - Major Changes

The Stylo is probably the better phone but, remember the 139 dollar price is BEFORE any mail-in or instant rebates. So, this phone could end up being less then a 100 bucks in store. In fact, according to CNET, Metro will be offering a 70 dollar rebate on it. If that ends being true, then this phone could be a pretty decent budget phablet.
...thus making the price $69(pardon my French)...
now that makes a very decent bargain phone.

I just wish that the battery was larger, us with the Zmax 3400 mah and Stylo 2900 mah would miss that extra battery life going back to 2500 mah :-(. Otherwise it seems fine, especially if that $70 rebate happens for those in the market then!

Yeah. I think the smaller battery was probably a comprise to keep it's low price. On another note, that's a Lockheed Tri-Star in your avatar, correct? It's an excellent and reliable aircraft from what I've read about it.

Smart man, indeed it is! Those of us that flew it and had the opportunity to fly several of the other big guys of its time; 747, DC-10, MD-11, A300 etc you would have loved it over them! It made you love it, even with its quirks!

Hmm, maybe you could try to get good deal for an unlocked one on ebay.

I think i would then lose that grandfathered plan(unlimited n uncapped data but has to be a Metro device), unless if I'm missing something...
I think what he was trying to say, was to look for a MetroPCS branded phone on eBay. Wasn't the $50 plan only for branded phones?

It looks like a good budget phone, probably good cheap price too
They will probably partner it with their $30 plan - advertising heavily lately

value-focused consumer experience - I like that description, honest
It's now available on Metro's site and it's available for the 30 dollar a month plan. The promotional price is 70 bucks. That's a very nice price for its feature set.

Nice call.
Reminds me of the Samsung Avant + 2x1 days...made it illogical to splurge on a flagship model.

I think it's a good sign that maybe we will get more phone options for metro not necessarily iPhones but more mid range phones because honestly their isn't really too much to choose from if u want a mid range phone I understand that this carrier isn't really one of the "big" guys but hopefully we do get more options.

Exactly. And those on grandfathered plans requiring metro phone suffer even more.

I certainly hope so. Boost Mobile recently came out with the LG G3 and G Flex for their users. So, maybe this is a sign of things to come.

I'm not an Apple fan (I can truly say this since I'm using the 5S for work), but it is nice to see that Metro is now selling it; even if it is a refurbished phone. Decent price point, too. I imagine that Metro is selling it now since we're getting more integrated with T-Mobile (hopefully not too integrated though).

If bargain/refurbished, then I want not too old...s5(not 6...ever) & note 4/5 & g3/4 @ phones.
I'm tired of the exhibits / lights / Leons, it gets old to always be on starter(or just a tad better) phone / computer / car / basem--err house / etc.

What I WILL accept at bargain specs is anything in the categories of jumbo / new tech / not offered elsewhere:
Phablet over 6", tablet any os & data capable 11"+, any smartwatch IF pairable unexclusively, a combo Wi-Fi / cellular hotspot.

I'd like to see metro step it up a bit...even on flagships... the V10 & S2 smartwatch would be nifty.

I was at a Metro store earlier today and the new Fierce XL is NOT available for the 30 dollar plan. Customer service also confirmed it. It looks like someone made a mistake on their website. Bummer. I was looking forward to checking out the phone. Oh well, this is just a heads to those on the 30 dollar plan who might be interested in it.

Good news re data upgrades and such, ripped from TMO News:
http://www.tmonews.com/2015/11/metropcs-gets-its-own-versions-of-music-freedom-and-binge-on/

Summary...subtract $5 if on Family plan:
  • $30 unlimited talk, text, & data w/ 1GB 4G LTE data, Data Maximizer
  • $40 unlimited talk, text, & data w/ 3GB 4G LTE data, Music Unlimited, Data Maximizer
  • $50 unlimited talk, text, & data w/ 5GB 4G LTE data, Music Unlimited, Data Maximizer
  • $60 unlimited talk, text & 4G LTE data, 8GB of mobile hotspot, Music Unlimited, Data Maximizer
  • I'm guessing the grandfathered $50 Unlimited Promo = $60 plan above.
