Root [H631/MS631] CyanogenMod 12.1 for LG G Stylo

Well that solves this mystery. Looks like it's time to start looking for a new phone since development on this one died almost instantly. What a shame, it's a really good phone with a lot of potential. Oh well

Apparently, someone on XDA has continued development on it. Meanwhile, I am working on getting a build up from the current repos for this device.

Can you point me to who that person is? And what's your progress? Did you take a look at Marshmallow stuff? Apparently, there's not really any changes to make for the device tree when compiling marshmallow. Most of it is just CM stuff being updated and Sepolicy stuff for Marshmallow

His name and username is Riku Azhurlar. He's providing me moral support as I build.

I just started today, and got a fatal error on my build. I'm trying to resolve it.

As for Marshmallow, I'm not a "real" dev, so I'll try building with the 12.1 DT after I get 12.1 working and see what errors are thrown.

Awesome man, but we have 12.1 already. Are you building to fix the bugs, like video recording and GPS?

Updated source is a good reason to build as well. There's also the fact that many of the new stylos with the newer display won't work with the previous cm12.1 build

Crap i forgot about that. Are the Korean made models the ones with the older displays? Or this that the China made models?

Really couldn't tell you man, not right now at least. I THINK the ones made in Korea are the newer ones.... I'm probably wrong though I haven't had this phone too long.

Just checked, I think it's China. Under my back cover it says made in Korea and I'm running CM12.1 already

Hmm, that's weird. Mine also says made in Korea but I have the new display, the first twrp and cm12.1 both don't work on mine, give me the half screen bug.

Yea that's really weird. Honestly, the change may have not been labeled externally. It may say Made in Korea on everyone's Stylo, but the actually change is labeled inside the phone

Yeah, I think a rule of thumb is if yours shipped with 10j you have the new display. I know mine did and that's the case with a few other stylo users I know personally.

Anyway we could port CM13 to this bad boy from the Moto G 2015. That phone is literally a smaller clone of ours. Everything is the same from the screen resolution to the chipset. I tried porting using the classic copy and replace method but couldn't get it booting. This is due to the kernel and sepolicy changes I presume.

So support for the new hardware, anything else? Sorry for the questions just want to know so I know whether to flash or not.

Totally fine. Yes. Dev I'm working with says he can fix notification LED and i might just build just for that since it is annoying af. If I were you, if you can LIVE with the stock rom, just wait until a few quirks are sorted out. I'll pri be building pretty frequently. Don't know if i can get every build's link into the OP so just keep checking down here.

But for RN just new h/w support
Awesome man! Glad to see you're active with this device. This is a great start for future things to come. I'm working on some things to include in CM12.1 also. Since I don't have my main PC to compile source I'm writing new features and implementing them the old fashioned way.

EDIT: Btw camera does work, just video recording doesn't work. Possibly missing libs? Maybe kernel issue. I was going to look into some smali and see if I could write some code to lock GPS. Not official, but a neat fix until issues are sorted

Yep, much appreciated man. Just in case there's still any skeptics I can also confirm the new hardware is now supported and that those three bugs are there, but nonetheless great job.
