I have not got a Hero yet but I am working on it. :)
I have watched 2 or 3 video`s, You Tube etc and 1 thing
that I would like to ask you owners is seeing the Hero being switched
on it seems to take ages to boot up and get to the main screen.
Why is this do you know please?
Does this length of time happen on all Hero`s or is it just the
1s that I have seen?
I know that when I do mange to get 1 I will be impatient to
use it straight away. :)

Peace,
Andrew.

it probably takes about a minute and a bit to boot up. Surely worth waiting for to get to play with the best phone ever. :D

Sure I know what you mean but why does this phone take so long to
Boot up?
It is a cutting edge phone and I am just interested to try and understand
why it does not fire up quickly.
BTW I am still getting one though. :)
Peace,
Andrew.

It takes so long to boot up because it is a very complex device. It needs to initiate the operating system, then load up all of the phone and network components, as well as the amazing SenseUI. When you think about it though, boot time is hardly an issue. How often do you reboot you cell phone? Maybe once a week? It's really not a big deal.

Some people claim the iPhone boots a lot faster. Personally, I don't consider 10 or so seconds a lot faster. Plus I have yet to have my Hero lock up to the point that I need to reboot it (like my friend's iPhone does about once a day). When you take crashing into account, the iPhone is really the one that spends more time booting ;)

I have had my Hero about 2 months now and I can't remember the last time I turned it off and on again, so you are right, no big deal.

Just remember that this is a Computer that makes phone calls, and like a computer, it takes a minute to boot up and install the OS and programs to make it ready for you. A small price in time to pay to use such an awesome phone!

My HTC magic takes about 2 minutes, but its not often switched off, and you get a lot of features when that things fired up!
