Contact Widget Replacement

I'm sure this has been asked before but a search didn't turn up much. I was wondering if anyone knows of an alternative to the HTC People widget? It seems the large one everytime I flick by the screen I'll randomly call someone (Maybe I press too long or something). Right now I'm playing with the smaller version of it and wondering if theres one on the market somewhere? Thanks.

as pointed out by "tnessling", the easier way is to add shortcuts for each contact that you want to your desktop ...

"To do this: Go to your home page, and press the '+' button.
Then choose: Shortcut > Person > (Select the Person) > Quick contact.

This will add an icon to your home page that, when pressed, will give you the option to: call, view contact info, sms, email, or navigate to their address."

Contact Favorites(multiple numbers)

When I added the People Widget to a Sense panel, it asked what category to use and I picked Favorites for it to display, as I 'added' people (+) to the Fav panel I was offered their full list of activities so I could pick what I wanted that icon in Favs to do (call mobile, call land, SMS, whatever). The top one in the list was 'View Contact'. If you pick View Contact as the response when adding that person, you get their list and can decide what you wish to do (text, call, email...).

What I would like to see is a way to have that nice pretty panel switch between Categories. While in the panel I'd like to change it to Family or Work, whatever, and have it look nice like it does normally. The only way to see an alternate list is with a couple taps and then you get the normal ugly contact list.

Thanks, I've never used voice commands before though and just tried it a bit. That's a poor solution for me, is a workaround at best (can't say "text Andy"). Saying "open' triggers it to look at pgms and "call' to look at the contacts and phone numbers. There is no way to trigger a SMS, or e-mail.

Vlingo works great for voice to text. You can say "text andy message lets go to the bar" and it'll open your text app and insert the text you just spoke. tap send and you're done. it works very well, i use it all the time.
