There's also a Google Maps update, I think new today, version 4.2 - adds a direct way to access navigation!
I hadn't thought of that but it's surprising they didn't include that option. Seems easy enough to implement though, so it shouldn't be too long before you can.
pretty much the only thing missing for me now would be route options, like avoid toll roads, etc...
I'd still like a 'follow me' option whereas the nav will follow you but wont direct your turn by turn..

Everyone's asking for the 3D follow me map.You can do that by opening maps and clicking on the blue dot to show your location, then just drive and it will keep up with you.
