Huawei has officially launched the newest member of their Honor family in China recently, the Honor 5X. The Honor 5X is a big step-up in terms of specs and construction compared to its predecessor, as the device comes with a premium design as well as mid-range specifications.
  • Huawei Honor 5X specs
    • Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor
    • 2GB/3GB of RAM
    • 5.5-inch full HD display
    • 16GB of storage, expandable via microSD
    • 13-megapixel rear camera with flash
    • 5-megapixel front facing camera
    • Dual SIM
    • 3G, LTE
    • WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Fingerprint scanner, Quick Charge 3.0
    • 3000mAh battery
    • Android 5.1 Lollipop

The Honor 5X is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor, has 2GB/3GB of RAM, 5.5-inch full HD display, 16GB of storage and a fingerprint scanner at the back. The Honor 5X is probably the most affordable model of Huawei to have a fingerprint scanner, as the device starts at RMB 999 (around 7.3K) for the 2GB version. The 3GB variant is a little more, at RMB 1,399 (around 10.3K).

The phone will be released in China first, though no word when this phone will hit our shores.

I will ship at the end of January in the US. I've been using it here in the US for several weeks.;)
Hi. I am thinking about getting the Honor 5X or the BLU Vivo 5. How good is the GPS on the Honor 5X? Since you have been using it for a few weeks now, do you use the GPS a lot? Is it able to hold on to the GPS signal or does it lose the signal a lot? Thanks!

I've been using it as a daily driver since December, and probably use GPS a couple times a month. I've never had trouble with it.

I got a Huawei Honor 5X phone for a user review contest and was luckily enrolled into a chance on my birthday to get the phone for free to replace my not-working phone to call my family. I have been using it for two weeks. It is really a good budget phone under $200 IMHO. But the contest is ending tomorrow and I was caught up by others in the past hours despite I have been updating my detailed review day by day. In case you have a minute to check the details and would like to help vote for my phone review posted athttp://club.hihonor.com/us/topic-436, here is the 2-step instruction. 1. Openhttp://club.hihonor.com/us/login to register a Huawei account by clicking the register link. 2. Go to my review athttp://club.hihonor.com/us/topic-436, at the bottom right of the first post of the thread, click the "votes" link, and you are done. If you also want to catch up with Huawei's giveaway or contest events, keep an eye on their contest forum. That is how I got the chance of reviewing the device. Thank you for voting and spread the word! Huawei rocks!
