VERIZON Update available today Jan 11

I looked to see if my Note 4 has that available and it does.
I told it "No Thanks" for now...
I am going to watch and see what further reports have to say about the newest update.

This is the very 1st time ever, that Verizon has allowed me to refuse an update.

I have two Samsung S5 phones, both of them tried to force an update.
Mine went thru, because I have to have data/WiFi on "some of the time" at least....
and one night, I forgot, and left WiFi turned on, it updated during the night.

My wife's S5, just now, showed up with the Request to Update to Lollipop....
all she does is play games and talk to our kids, so I have MacroDroid set to always turn OFF both Data and WiFi when ever any status changes, Screen Unlock? turn off the internet.... Screen is locked? turn off the Internet...

Well, that damn Lollipop update advised that the next time the phone was turned OFF and restarted, that it would install Lollipop.....

That did not set well with me, I turned it off, did a Volume UP, Home Button down, Power ON.
It came up in the menu mode, and I wiped the Cache Partition 3 times.

Let it reboot normally and Wallah! Lollipop disappeared!!! :D

It's been very smooth so far. I'm getting better battery life and my Note just seems to be running better - i.e. smoother and a bit faster. And my RAM status indicates that I'm using a great deal less RAM than before the update. With a few open apps running it's showing 1.95 GB being used, for example, whereas before it would be at 2.1 or 2.2 GB. This is merely one person's experience, I understand, and I'm sure everyone's situation may be different. I also haven't had any overheating issues.

ETA: Needed to correct my RAM numbers.

I was about to do a factory reset on my. It became super slow and sluggish (several seconds just to launch the dialer!). This update came through and boom - slowdowns are completely gone. Would probably be even faster if I did a factory reset but I'm good now. Very happy with the update so far.

that is an encouraging report....

get a few more, and I just might let it go thru.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I also have experienced the occasional slow down, but every time, I have been able to "fix it" by bringing up the Task List, and Clearing All....
in one fell swoop, the slowness is gone. This is completely counter to all of the Standard Arguments that Android handles memory just fine, there is No Valid Reason to clear the list of running Apps.
I have always felt, and have proven to myself, that is simply not the case, and it has Never Been the Case.
Galaxy S Fascinate can only handle two apps running at the same time w/o locking up.
Galaxy S5.... depends on what type of apps, and I never bothered to figure out "how many" it takes to slow it down, and have it just "totally lock up"... which it has a number of times. My fix for that was pull the battery.... it simply refuses to respond to any keyboard or button.
Samsung Note 4: it does indeed slow down when the list of apps gets long.... how many? dunno, and don't care. when it happens, I do a Clear All and "Job Done" it is fixed.
Knock on wood, it has never "locked up".... knock knock...
I don't give a hoot in a dark alley what anyone says to the contrary, that is just the way it is.
mainly security updates. was supposed to remove the preloaded amazon app store and amazon widget, but it didn't on mine. I was able to manually remove the appstore, though the widget is where it's going to be.
my phone got super hot during the update, but I did have it on the charger (fast charging). 10-15 mins after the update completed and all settled down it went back to normal.
things do seem snappier. one thing I noticed almost immediately was the screen sort of dims-on when you bring it out of standby. it could have done that before and I just never noticed, but I see it now so....
Probably be best to remove any cases that we have on the phone, to help keep it a bit cooler.
also, just have the battery fully charged, and not "on charge".... the charging components generate heat and raises phone temps a lot.
I suppose, if we wanted to get "real serious" about the temperature increase, we could remove the phone's back cover, and let a fan blow air across the back of the phone with it laying face down to keep the battery from falling out.
I've been waiting to hear about bad things on this latest Verizon upgrade to the Note 4.
Today, I just now caught a news blurb that brought it back to mind.... I had missed any comments on it removing some of the bloatware. Even so, has anyone had any problems with this latest release? I've get to install it.
........ build number LMY47X.N910VVRU2BOK3.
“This software update has been tested to optimize device performance, resolve known issues and apply the latest security patches,” according to Verizon. It also brings Android for Work, upgrades Samsung Knox, and removes the previously pre-installed Amazon Appstore and Amazon widgets.
Any problems with the upgraded Samsung Knox?
and what is "Android for Work" ??
this is a two week old article, that just happened to show up in a news.google.com list that I frequent.
