Yesterday afternoon I got the notification about the 6.0 update. The download failed due to insufficient storage space. When I got home from work and got on wifi I deleted almost every app including that memory hog facebook. The retry update notification was gone and when I go to check for system update it says Up To Date. No 6.0, no update available. I even did a factory reset hoping it would pick up the update that way and that didn't do it.

What now? Will it show up again? I don't want to be at work or somewhere when it hits again if it does and blow through half my data allowance.

Don't want to mess with the LG Flashtool stuff either. Just want easy OTA update.

You should be able to select updating while on Wi-Fi only, to avoid inadvertently using your Data allowance.

Usually once an update is sent, it's accessible through the System Update tool. Since it's not, you'll probably see a notification for it again in the next few days. That seems to be the time frame whenever I've declined an OTA update.

Does it tell you there is an update and you have to give it permission before it starts? I'm just wondering when (if) I get mine if I will be able to free up some space on my phone first then tell it to go ahead and update.

I'm not sure how the update works. Being you did a reset and it didn't update, I'm guessing it goes down the list sending them out once each. Then maybe you have to wait until it goes back thru the list again and sees you are not updated, it will send it again. That is just a guess and if it is something like that, who knows how long it takes to get it the 2nd time. I'm on Boost and still have not got it the first time. Good luck...

Thanks everyone for the replies. I also contacted Boost through the email page on their site. A rep called me back a few hours after. She started to walk me through the system update which I told her this is why I contacted boost. She had me give her some numbers off the about phone tab. Android version and some other number. Would forward a request to level 2 support and get back to me. Just got call back and she said it would download again, but they had no timeframe. She did mention something about January 20th, but really couldn't understand her. Either it will be available under the manual update or all updates should be finished by then.

As for what it said/did, I really wasn't paying attention to whether it asled permission to download or just said an update is available "ok"

I hope it happens very soon since I did the factory reset and sitting here with pretty much nothing on my phone to keep the memory free for the update.

I want the update because of 6.0 actually allowing the external memory card be part of the system memory and you can move the whole app to it. It's a damn shame they made two versions of this phone. The 1gb ram 8gb internal memory is really a turd when loaded up. Even with a 64gb card in it pretty much did nothing moving the "app data" to sd.

I love the phone and Boosts $30 unlimited plan. Coming from an S3 (virgin) has its cons. The phone does lag alot. Right now its ok keeping 2.5gb of memory free. Plan on partitioning 32gb for system/apps if thats how 6.0 works so i can move EVERYTHING to the card and keep all the system memory free to keep the phone running smooth.

Johnny Lingo,

Have you read up much on 6.0 making external memory look like system memory? I thought it sounded good at first too, but for me the cons out weighed the pros. The SD memory is slower than what is built into the phone. "They" also say that SD memory is not made to for the amount of reads/writes as the phone memory is so it shortens the life of the SD card. Also, SD card will be encrypted so it can only be read by your phone and not by Windows. Other things too... You might want to read up on it to decide if you think it is a right fit for you.

well that is true and you can always revert the option when factory resetting last i checked...but i'm pretty sure a Class U3 external SD will handle the load..

I definitely seen a lot of talk on the "cons"of using the sd for system memory. But if so many people root to use link2sd isn't this basically the same thing?

I'm never going to plug my phone in my mac or pc so I don't care about the encryption. If I burn through a memory card in less than a year... They're cheap enough to replace it and just download the apps again.

The G Stylo could have been a better phone, and it is on tmobile/metro and I debated going with metro or the walmart mobile option but boost IS the better deal by far. $30 gets me 2gb of data and every 3 months (on time payments) I get an extra 500mb up to 5gb. So in a year I'm getting 4gb for $30. Plus I've been with virgin for almost 4 years and have had great service in my area (pittsbugh metro) and didn't want to take the chance with tmobiles network. Also, I got the Stylo for $112.00 (best buy matched walmarts online price, missed the $99 amazon by a day) so even with the lousy 8gb the phone is well worth it.

Imagine the Willy Wonka face...

What's this LG bridge you speak of?
Tell me more good sir..
Hi, simply Lg Bridge replaces the Lg Support tool. Go to the LG site, download LG BRIDGE from downloads. Install and run it on your Mac or PC. Connect your phone. It will check your software and update as necessary. Took me about 20 mins to upgrade my phone to Ver 6. Must say though I don't see a lot of difference but still exploring it. Good luck young Sir

Disconnect your phone. Run LG Bridge, then connect your phone. Install drivers if necessary. You will have to log into LG Bridge with your google account. When/if Lg Bridge finds your phone goto software update. Make sure you have a known working mini usb cable. Once connected and it finds your phone you can even connect by wi-fi, no need to use cable afterwards. Took me 3 attempts but got there in the end

Tried for almost an hour. Tried all three usb ports on my laptop (win7). I logged in with Lougle and clicked connect and get some error saying cannot connect at this time try again later or something. My mac mini runs 10.4 tiger and does not support lg bridge.

Guess I just have to wait for OTA to roll back around and keep my phone empty till it hits again...

Hi, sorry to hear that. I had the same error "LG Airdrive is busy at this time, try again later", but I think I tried again 15 mins later, then a box opened, 1 of 4 connecting to phone. Once connected came straight up with software update available. I clicked the OK button and down it came. Is your usb connection ticked for LG software? Your phone must be on and logged in. Sleep mode will not grant access. Fully charged. Security if any turned off. Persistance got me there. Sorry your having so much trouble

Johnny Lingo,

Did you ever get your update resent to you? Mine just came up today for the update. I told it to update (after running cleaner app) and it rebooted without error, but no update process running. :(
I wonder if it is because where I am at it will not connect to wifi automatically - I have to sign it 1st. Maybe it won't wait that long for me to sign in and gives up - shoddy programming timing at too soon. Manual update says I'm up to date. So I guess I'm waiting until the 20th and hopefully then the stupid thing wakes up and lets me update.

Tried the "clear data / force stop google framework services". Didn't work. Here is an article that explains how the roll out of updates works (or at least did a couple years ago):

Didn't realise you were setting this up on your laptop/workstation via wi-fi. Did mine last Thursday evening. Home computer cabled to router. I know wi-fi will take longer and probably timed out. When I said unlock your security I meant on the phone. Nothing to do with your laptop. Think you need cable connection. Once it logged on to mine it flew. As I said all nice to have the updates though I can't really see a great difference between Lollipop and Marshmallow, though I think like me.....if it's out there I wanit....Good luck mate

Murf, I still did not get the update again. Still waiting.. I always thought these came through at midnight or overnight and you'd wake up to an update present.

Empress, I've given up with LG bridge. I tried again. I'm doing the usb connection. Pc sees it, autoplay prompts but same lg bridge cannot connect at this time. Also, did it give you the coveted SD memory option? The kids over at xd forums where i was refered to for the download zip to do a recovery install said they didn't see that option but they think it was because it was sprint specific not sprint/virgin/boost generic.

I emailed Boost support about my update notice going away without updating. This is what they said:

"We apologize for the trouble about the Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). In
line with your concern, it looks like the software was released,
possibly being rolled out to customers in waves. If you were not able to
complete it yet, you should be receiving the update notification again
by01/28/2016when the rollout completes."

It updated this morning automatically.

Cannot get the sd card to format as internal. Only get the format as external or sd or something. None of the "standard" online instructions work or match up.

Formatted on pc. Put in phone got some sd corrupted fix now. Get the same one format option.

It does though let me move apps to sd BUT after only a few becauss I kept alot off waiting for the update to keep space, it says out of room after moving about 1gb or less. 64Gb card. Wtf.

I'm about to have a stroke or nervous breakdown now cause this is worse now for memory and its a put a gun in yourmouth kinda day anyway.

Boost only lets you use SD as "portable storage" is what I hear. I only got than 1 option to format as too.
I have 32GB Sandisk SD card and 6.0 only let's me move a little over 500MB worth of apps to it (no such restriction on 5.1.1).
Now for my rant:
Who in the world designs an operating system and then intentionally limits the users ability to use their storage device!?! That's is insane in my opinion. It would be like MS saying they are putting out a great new feature in Windows 10.5. They will support you adding as much hard drive space as you like, but they will only allow you to write to 10GB of it and that is it. Would we all say " Wow, that is such a great feature I can't wait to get my hands on it!"? But for some strange reason on Android we accept that not being able to use a storage device as a "Normal design feature". I really like Android, except for this incredible incomprehensible design flaw that make no sense from a customer/user perspective.

I was afraid it had something to do with lg or boost. Absolutely F'n ridiculous to sell a phone with crap memory where you are limited on apps and usage. Then have a card slot and not let you have more space for apps. I could understand if it was how ape or samsungs s6 has no memory card slot and mKes you just buy a bigger memory version of the phone. But this whole option of app2sd as part of android now was for these low memory phones.

Maybe someone will create a root or stock rom and remove that lockout of the sd.
