Help Can watch faces be kept on but dim? NOT their dimmed "version"

Hi all,

I've been a smartwatch user for 18 months now. Started on the original LG G Watch and now got he Huawei Watch.

Some of the watch faces on the hWatch are really nice but they piss me off when the screen dims slightly (that bits fine) but then it goes to a horrible B&W "version" of that face. It looks shit.

I'm perfectly happy charging my watch every night so battery is not an issue and I've tried KOKO but that doesn't seem to work.

Any suggestions??

Try Odyssey. Full blown watch face all the time with no significant battery drain. It's my go-to watch face.

I'm using that developers watch faces already. They're all great.

I'm specifically looking to try done of the stock faces though but don't want them bright or their awful black and white version.

The ambient/dim mode of a face is implemented by that face's developer. Unless the dev included a way for the user to change it, you're kind of stuck.

If you use an app like WatchMaker, I know there are some community-built tributes to some of the stock Huawei faces. You may be able to find one of those that you could tweak for a full-color ambient mode.

Aside from battery life, though, there may also be the concern of pixel fatigue or "burn-in" with the Huatch's AMOLED screen. It is for that reason that I generally prefer a less busy ambient mode - but that's entirely up to your preference.

Great point. I don't have an amoled screen, but I recall there is an ambient mode feature that shifts the image around by a few pixels to minimize burnin, and that's most effective if the ambient face is mostly black with thin lines and thin characters (thin enough that moving the image those few pixels turns every pixel black at one time or another)

I honestly never even knew this was a thing but kinda makes sense. I was a bit worried when I read this!

That's exactly what my hWatch does. Always thought it was ever so slightly annoying but now I know why do I'm very happy!

I had the same thought! I kept *thinking* that I saw the display shifting slightly right before it transitioned from dim to bright. I thought I was going crazy!
