Honor 5X AMA (ask me anything)

This was with one of my many Huawei chargers, just whichever one happened to be at work. 1A, nothing fancy, but equivalent to the one that came with the device.
FWIW, I've only ever got one type of charger from Huawei, across 6 phones and the Huawei Watch. The 1A white charging brick. The same one that came in the box for the 5X. So whatever Huawei charger @codesplice used should be indicative to what ships with the 5X.

I use 2A chargers for everything. Mine goes from the red (under 10%) to full in about 2 hours - just like my other Huaweis.

The 1A charger included is simply an economic move - if your life is too short to wait for a phone to charge, visit monoprice.com - that works for me.

It's a $200 phone - treat yourself to a real charger.

Standby mode is where things got really interesting. In fact, we can’t actually tell you how far this phone will go in standby mode simply because after 4 days, we still had about 50% battery left. Our best guess would be somewhere north of a full week in standby.

Definitely can confirm, as the 5X has been demoted to secondary device duty lately. I keep forgetting to charge it and then being shocked that it's still up and running several days later.

If/when it gets updated to Marshmallow, Doze will make standby infinite. :p

Or do nothing worthwhile. If you don't have apps that misbehave and you're set up to sleep properly in the first place, Doze is kind of pointless.

VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION TO ME Will the Honor 5x work on Metro PCS since they ride on T-Mobile network
They don't have it listed in their BYOD system as compatible which isn't surpising as the phone was just released. It should work as a BYOD as it is unlocked and Metro PCS sells sims for BYOD phones. Just be aware that band 12 isn't active at this time.

Where is band 12 usually at like urban areas rurual area
s ???
I'm not positive myself. My understanding is that some areas have Band 12 coverage only and no other signal, so if phones aren't certified by T-Mo to be able to make VoLTE 911 calls, then they can't use band 12, or something like that. It's an issue affecting many phones that run on T-Mo. I think the new Nexii had the same issue, but got support for it in an update. It isn't a hardware issue, and I'd imagine that it will come.

You may be able to get more info about band 12 specifically in the T-Mobile forum.

What do you think of the EMUI is it helpful or hindering? How easy is it to use and get use to? Also how does this phone compare to the blu life one x? Which would be a better grab for ur money
I have two biases, until I started testing Huawei devices, I always uses AOSP (Nexus) or very lightly skinned (OG Droid, Moto X) devices, so my preference is for launchers similar to Google Now launcher. That makes me hesitant to like a heavily skinned launcher like Sense, Touchwiz, or EMUI. Also, I was given the device for testing, so while I try to be honest, I probably have a tendency to go a little easy. That said, I have a love / hate relationship with EMUI. Some things are nice, some things are just plain broken. The theme engine is robust, and there are some nice hidden gems like customizing home screen transitions. I hate having the themed icons with the rounded edges. I just don't like it.

I honestly don't know enough about the blue life one x to compare beyond looking at specs, and I don't think that is really fair to either phone as the experience is greatly determined by how the components work together rather than what the components are.

I will that the Honor 5X is easily worth $200, it is far better than the Huawei P8 Lite that I did purchase and still carry everyday and sells for about the same amount.

I've read pcmag says blu is the better bet and it did better in the atutu testing but I think the 5x has the better camera and a fingerprint sensor and more expandable storage. I'll probably 5x just cause of the camera I'll just have to tinker with emui or get another launcher
I think the camera is better based on specs, the fingerprint sensor is awesome. FWIW, I'm using a 64GB SD card and it works flawlessly.

What would you say about the call quality I've seen that people say that it isn't great in noisy environments and the person recieveing the call is getting a robot like voice from the caller
I'm not a talker anyway, my conversations are usually limited to nodding my head and muttering "yep" repeatedly while my wife yammers on about some shirt at Kohl's and other such news that is pointless or can wait until I'm home. I do notice a tinny echo sometimes, but I think that is the carrier.
