I have tried to be patient to see if someone is going to release a ZMAX variant of CM13 (Android 6.0.1). And from what I have seen, no one is doing it.

Sooooo. Because of my unquenchable desire to have the latest OS on my phones, and the fact I don't want to go out and buy a flagship phone just to have Marshmallow I have decided to make a unofficial build of CM13 for the ZMAX.

Just a warning, it has been a few years since I last attempted to make a ROM (For the Motorola i1). And I know I will need to learn any programming techniques that may have been released since Android 2.5.7. And the fact I work 50 hours a week, don't expect quick releases.

I do have a couple requests. Please don't hound me about when the next Alpha, Beta & Release Candidate will be released.

And Two, if anyone who has experience with customizing/cooking/compiling ROMs I would greatly appreciate it if you could help if I run into issues or ofmo have questions.

I also want to hear any suggestions about ROM features, requests or suggestions.

ROM feature suggestion .. MultiWindow for any app

Here is my goal. Getting Cyanogenmod running with no bugs. When I achieve that, then that is when I will make a version with requests.

I do have a idea for a version with the Linero Kernel and other useful utilities.

But remember I am not a normal Developer, I am a person who is fed up with OEM's not supporting phones over a extended period of time.

I have had this ZMAX since September 9th. It came with 4.4.2. Since then ZTE has not brought out anything else, they never thought of making this phone with a easy to unlock bootloader. They just left I everyone in the cold with 5.X and 6.X. Why? Because it isn't a Flagship phone? Because they are a Chinese based manufacturer? Because this phone was targeted at prepaid? Who knows. But I know one thing, this phone is more then capable of running 6.X and and damn it, I want Marshmallow on it.

I am tired of being left in the cold by manufacturers who think they know better.

I am using the latest code release which if I have read correctly has the Stage fright patched.

And Google is suppose to release a new version of Marshmallow at the end of this week.

Once you get something that I can test let me know and I'll help as best as I can to make it stable and usable.

Not a problem. I have been constantly interrupted by work. So just to let everyone know I am doing this around my work schedule and family responsibilities. So I ask you to be patient.

I do have one question though. I have been reading up on putting roms and I came across something about finding a device that has identical hardware (same radios or CPU's, etc, etc) to make porting easier. For example I have a Moto G LTE that has the same SoC running cm13. Could I use parts of that for this phone? I know it is a "good" question. But I haven't done this in years, 5 to be exact. Thanks

I can tell why you'd like to run Marshmallow on it. I've had this phone since (sadly) I bricked my Galaxy S6 Edge. It has good RAM, nice screen size, nice storage and good battery life. I have tried so many ROMs on this phone, never being able to find a 6.0 ROM. I would gladly help with anything. I have also thought about making a Marshmallow ROM, but I've never made a ROM before, so I needed to research more (which I'm still doing). So, back to the main point, I would VERY GLADLY help with anything I can. I have decent free time and experience with Android. Thanks for doing this for the ZMAX community. ;)

Don't thank me yet. I am still trying to figure out a few things. But I will take you up on it.
