Help Out of space. Need advice on ideas to get more internal storage

So, I just switched phones. The internal storage thing is totally a pain. It has 4 GB of internal storage and I bought a 64 GB SD card for it. The phone is rooted. This has allowed me to move some apps to the SD card that I might have not otherwise. But there are still a few apps that I want that I don't want to uninstall and cannot be moved to SD storage suppposedly.

For one, it would be nice to just uninstall Facebook. It's using 121 MB (second largest app on internal storage.) I don't have a Facebook account. But it won't allow me to.

Are there any scripts that just run through the phone and do an extra good cleanup on it?

Use Titanium backup to remove Facebook. That is strange that you can't uninstall it normally.

Facebook is sometimes pre-installed bloat on carrier version phones. And can't be removed without root.

If it's pre-installed bloat and can't be removed, it's likely on the system partition. That wouldn't be available to the OP anyway for app storage.

The only way I know to improve the situation requires root access and partitioning the SD card.

Check the root section for your device here @ Android Forums.
If it's a fairly popular device,the development community is likely active & has some sort of memory swap mod/script.
Otherwise,look into using something like Link2SD:

Figured it out mostly. I could uninstall Facebook and some other uninstallable apps using Titanium Backup. Now have 500 MB of the 2 GB free.

The app doesnt do anything you have to pay to even use the damn app this isbt a solution to his problem

If you are rooted and if you are willing to partition your SD card then you could try this utility.

I am rooted and using apps2SD and I have everything moved I can to SD. Right now I have to install an unmovable app to install another app then move it to SD and then reinstall the unmovable app. Usually after installing the new app and trying to reinstall the unmovable app,my space is too low then have to run a cleanup tool to reclaim a few megs of cache then I can get the unmovable app reinstalled. Really annoying. There has to be a way to move these unmovable apps to the SD card.

I am running out of ideas. I uninstalled all updates for Google Apps. It freed up a ton of storage. I turned off auto updating in Google Play. Took care of it for one day. Yesterday, I had over 1 GB free of internal storage. Today, my storage is maxed out again. Running an app size sorter that sorts my internal apps from largest to smallest, I have 357 MB of 3.63 GB free. (I had to uninstall a few more apps to just get it to 357 MB free so I could install an app to sort the folder sizes.)

Google Play services 100 MB
Google App 68 MB
Android System WebView 56 MB
Sense Home 47 MB
Speak 29 MB
Google Play Store 23 MB
HTC Sense Service Pack 16 MB

Just gets smaller and smaller. I can't imagine all these 10 MB and less apps are using up 3 GB.

I don't mind paying for apps if it solves my problem. $1-$5 for an app is miniscule for the headaches it could possibly solve.

The app I linked in my previous post will help some,but,don't expect miracles.

If you opt for the PRO Version,it opens up a lot of options,be careful & read up on it if you have any doubts/questions.Read the FAQs,a lot of good info,along w/the thread @xda :

Your available internal storage is severely limited as-is,reminds me of some phones I've had in the past,very high maintenance as far as keeping enough free space to make the phone useable.
Since you're rooted,I'd go the memory swap route,whether it be an app like Link2SD or,a flashable mod (.zip).
Check out the root section of your device forum here or at XDA,I'm sure there's others who have the same storage issue(s) & a workable solution.

But if I run Treesize on the storage, the top level folder is 87.9 MB. There is about 2.6 GB of unaccountable space.

Because I can pretty much guarantee it's not a problem with the device but with how the Android OS in general is managing my data. My wife has an LG and she's having the same problem.

I wasn't stating that it was hardware/defect related,but,would it not make sense to talk to others who have the same phone?
It is severely limited in storage space & as you've achieved root,I'm guessing you're not alone.
So,would it not stand to reason someone,somewhere,with your device,has come up with a solution for your storage issues for your device?

Sorry about that,been there/done that with a few phones myself,virtually no one else in the forum has it,including my present day daily driver (BlackBerry Priv,Zero company to date.....)

That's because you are not seeing the system partition which contains the Android OS and system apps. It's formatted ext3 or ext4 and which Windows can't see, but Linux can. I don't think any space is unaccountable.

I just booted up my Ubuntu vm and hooked it to the vm and I cant see the partitions either. I think I need to somehow get the phone to allow me to connect the usb as mass storage instead of mtp. I can't figure out how to do this. Windows wouldn't be able to read it, but it would at least show in disk manager that the partition exists if it could see the partitions... but it can't because I can't get the phone to work in mass storage mode.
