I just dont understand why most people on here are complaining about the hero. Mine is working fine ever since i purchase it, the only thing that i had a problem which many people did was the picture mail which is working fine now. If people want the 2.1 root your phone and stop complaining or get in the back of the line and wait for it.

I have joined dozens of forums over the years, motorcycle, SUV, computer, networking, phone, exercise, beer, music, art just to name a few types. I have to agree with the OP as whining is EPIC on this forum. I will give you an example. Do a search for "dust" and you will find 135 threads that at least mention it. Seriously? Many of these threads focus on the same issue over and over again.


I think that most of the people whining around here don't even own a Hero, but are disgrunted iPhone fanboys.

Not having a "Rants and Raves" forum to push the whiners into a neat little corner has really diminished the enjoyment of this forum.

I recommend hanging out in the All things root forum.

Personally, I wish I would have found a forum with experienced Hero owners, highlighting all the phone's shortcomings, and held off on my purchase. Now I'm stuck with it, and while it's still a decent phone - there's nothing wrong with voicing concerns so that other buyers can make a conscientious decision.

I agree that there is nothing wrong with voicing concerns, but starting the same thread over and over again is just unnecessary and a waste of time. I don't think the Hero has any shortcomings at all, so I guess it is your perspective of the phone. You are as stuck as you want to be. Break your contract if you hate it that much. I would...

It's not just this phone...it's any phone. People defend their choice of phone and carrier as vehemently as if they are defending their own child. I don't quite get it. And it isn't the people with the cheapo phones or the 5 year old phones either. It is the ones that think that now that everyone has a cell phone, theirs had better be cool to maintain the status they once had simply by owning a cell phone at all. I'm 99.9% sure it has nothing to do w/ maintaining any sort of status.. perhaps we are just defending a piece of electronics purely off the idea that it is actually a good product? Just maybe..
