Distribution to Customer Only

I'm very new in mobile apps, so sorry for my ignorance. My question is simple, I'm going to develop an small app that I want my customer to use. Is there a way to distribute this app privately. I guess all apps must be uploaded and aproved in to App Store. It's not for sale, but it's just an utilitty that the customer needs for its team in diferent devices.


Then If I have to fix something, how quick (or slow) is the process to let the customer install the new version?

Produce an APK and distribute that to your customer. Here are different methods.

You can put it on the Play Store, and just not advertise it.... it will not get much attention that way.

and, as you aren't doing it for profit, who cares who looks at the app?
you will have your accounts locked/passworded, and if they don't know where to look, they can't access anything important anyway.

Maybe you could look into making a private store in Aptoide, and distribute your app and subsequent updates from there, by giving your client a username and password.

I am not familiar with this resource. How diligent is this website towards keeping out mischievous villains from infiltrating our Androids with hacks/etc?

There is some discussion on the net about this and things seem to be fairly checked. But I have no much knowledge.

The only reason I suggested it, is because it allows for private stores and something similar would be good for the OP.

Personally, I wouldn't use it for other reasons. I prefer to send APKs to friends and family.

Only thing with distributing your app privately or otherwise outside of Google Play, is your customers will have to enable sideloading of apps on their devices, "Untrusted sources" in settings. The default is usually off.

Many such private apps are distributed via Play, but they're no use to anyone else unless they have the account login information for your company or service.
