How are you liking your 5x?

I got the nexus 4 atm and looking to upgrade cus my volume rocker stopped working after I got some....bodily fluids inside there...

Though overall I love this phone it really failed at the simple things... I have been pretty disappointed with a lot of built in problems, like with how apps that use the camera randomly cause the phone to crash and reboot like snapchat and Skype. And Google and the apps are saying there's nothing that can be done, sorry!

Does the 5x have problems like that? Also the call quality on this phone has been terrible from day 1, hows the call quality on the 5x?

Also I hate how YouTube crashes if I'm using it for more than 10 minutes requiring me to reboot the phone...does 5x have that issue?

I'm happy, the battery life for myself has been the biggest plus compared to my S3 mini I had this is phenomenal.

I upgraded from the N4 to the N5X, I don't have any problems. The only thing I had to get used to was button placement...both power & volume are on the same side...if you use the fingerprint scanner, this won't be an issue.

I'm with the Lion: I also upgraded from an N4 and I'm pretty happy with the N5X. It seemed ridiculously big when I first got it, but within a day or so it seemed normal.

Unlike the OP, the only real problem I had with the N4 was that the USB port got worn and I had trouble getting it to charge. Otherwise I was pretty happy with it.

The N5X, though has plenty of things that make me happy I upgraded: favourites are the fingerprint scanner, fast charge, camera and screen. They're all awesome and massive improvements over the N4. Also, while it's no looker, it's definitely prettier than the N4 - admittedly, not saying much as the N4 was pretty fugly

I also got the 32GB model which more than doubled the available space - which is pretty good. I now usually have around 4 or 5GB free (unless I've shot a lot of video) while on my N4, I used to struggle to keep around 0.5 to 1GB free (otherwise it affected performance).

The only real negative is that the N5X wasn't as much of a bargain as the N4 - at least not here in the UK.

cool how is y'alls call quality with the 5x? i saw a bunch of reviews saying its very scratchy sounding....

D'you know, I said exactly the same thing when I first got the phone but now it seems perfectly fine. I can hear calls really well and I use it to listen to podcasts with no problems. Maybe I just got used to it.

I came to the 5X from a 1st gen Moto G (Nexus' little half brother) and l love it! I, personally, haven't encountered any bad phone calls; the incoming call sounds crystal clear to me and the receiving end hasn't made any comments about bad sounding calls.

has fi coverage gotten better? i have heard from people who live in big city areas which have excellent coverage, that have constant dropouts and static using Fi, though it has been a few months/

Personally, I'm loving my 5X. I got the 32 gig version. I have flashed TWRP, and then the Pure Nexus ROM on it. I stayed on stock for the first month I had it, then decided to play with it. I didn't want to spend what it would cost for the 6P.

i think technically speaking the 6p is considered better, but in real world use i hear that its just too big and can get kinda annoying. i think the 5x is better since it has a good camera and the 6p specs aren't significantly better, and i think the 5x is the perfect sweet spot between too small and too big.

I'm a few days into it, so far so good. Being mindful of the apps I'm installing because of the 2GB RAM. Finding myself constantly closing apps manually. So far so good. Buttery smooth.

I have had my 5x for about 2 months now. For YEARS I stuck with pure Android Nexus devices and then jumped ship because their phones where getting bigger.

So I tried the Sony Xperia Z5c at double the price and it was a big mistake.

So I bit the bullet and sold the Sony at a big loss and I am about 90% happy with my 5x.

I just hope that the next Google device is no larger and has at least 3gb of RAM and I'll be very happy.

I'm using mine on MetroPCS (T-Mobile network) and am really loving it. I haven't had any issues using it as a hotspot. As far as battery life, I personally only get a couple hours screen time, but can still make it the whole day. I generally plug it in during the day for a bit though just 'cause I like to have a fair amount of battery near the end of the day. But as always, YMMV. I think it's a great phone to get and have no regrets or wishes that I'd gotten a different phone.

After my first day with it (got it on the 12th)

I absolutely love it. Only complaint I have is the battery life. (coming from a phone that lasts 2 days easily with moderate to heavy use)

I have used my 5X as a WiFi hotspot quite a bit and it's worked fine, though it use some juice so it's best to plug it into the laptop.

When you do that of course, you might as well use the USB tethering

The WiFi card died on my work laptop and until my new super new laptop arrives I've been using USB tethering. Takes a while for the internet connection to be recognised by Windows, but once it's on it works well.

Are you on the T-Mobile network. Since the phone does not come from T-Mobile should I have any concerns about the hotspot properly working on T-Mobile?

I am on what was T-Mobile here in the UK however, I doubt that would tell you too much about the US network.

Unless T-Mob is monitoring the network traffic and blocking tethering (I know some networks used to do that), I don't think it should make any difference that the phone wasn't bought from T-Mob. I bought this phone and my last one direct from Google and never had any issues tethering .. but that is in the UK.

I'm struggling a little bit with mine. My current phone is an LG G3, so the 5x has a little bit smaller display than what I'm used to.

When I compare the two side by side, I think "ugh, I don't know if I can deal with the display being smaller." If I don't compare them, I do notice the text is a tad smaller than what I'm used to, & with my aging eyes (I'm not that old, but still) I wonder if that will end up bothering me.

Part of my mindset is that the other phone I was considering was the Moto X Pure, which is a bit bigger phone but not that different in overall size to the G3 - and when I looked at the Moto X in the store I instantly liked it. I feel kind of "meh" about the Nexus. I ultimately went with the Nexus because it's less $$ and should be getting updates for longer, plus the camera on my G3 sucks at night pics & I read that the Nexus has a good camera.

But still... I'm struggling, although it seems like a nice enough phone.
