Last day for me on this Note 4 forum... been a good run!

Ah... today is the day I switch from AT&T to Verizon and my Note 4 will be "retired" as it won't work with Verizon. Can still use it to show photo's.
I pick up my new Samsung S7 Edge with the Gear VR and 64GB microSD card this afternoon.
So I'll be hanging on that forum now. I noticed that the manager of the Verizon Store was still using the Note 4 and not the Note 5. Said he was waiting for the Note 6 that will come out in September.

I really liked my Note 4 it was a great phone... I will miss it. It is probably the best looking phone I had to date.

hope you got a decent switch over offer.
Actually, I did... I was going to do the "free" VR deal at the main Verizon store in Tacoma, but saw in my email from Costco where we shop a lot had a better deal... free gear VR, free 64GB microSD card, free portable battery AND a $250 cash card for switching carriers! Wow... that was a good deal. Finally, I'll get a good connection while I'm in the mountains a lot in the spring/summer/fall (photography)

Thanks for all the nice comments... the Note 4 will be hard to beat, I love that phone... but was time for a change.
I've enjoyed this Note 4 forum category a lot and got lots of info, help and just bantering here... so thanks!

I picked Verizon because I can get connections in the mountains whereas I can't get connections anywhere near a mountain with AT&T. ;)

and that is exactly why I have stayed with Verizon for 20+ years....
yes, others have had cheaper rates, but none, not even AT&T can compete with Verizon for total coverage.

I have traveled a lot on my jobs, and the only two carriers worth a damn are the ones mentioned here, and VZW is the best. not the cheapest, but the best. I just simply can't afford to go leave VZW.

I have a trucker friend on AT&T.... every time, he crosses a State Line, our link is dropped and he has to call me back when he gets a new signal. this has happened on all three of his phones, an S2, S4 and now a S5.....

VZW does not drop you at State Lines, never had it happen....
yes, if I drive off down into a deep ravine, the signal just fades out.......

you will enjoy having the Verizon Umbrella covering you. You may grimace a bit when comparing the rates vs Cricket, etc.... but none of the others can cover the USA like Verizon can. and that is why, I have not left them since signing up almost 25 years ago....

I tried every brand name there was back in those early days/daze? the old Nokia pocket phones seemed to be the 'best' right next to Motorola phones... 1x was the only protocol available and back then, it didn't have a name, just "4 bars" of "got it or not?" and texting appeared on them somewhere back then, at first that was not even available on my cellphones.

just thought I would let you in a "little secret"...... :)
This message is coming to you from my office Desktop Win7 PC via Verizon 4g....

why? simply because good ole AT&T ADSL has crapped out again..... hours on the phone explaining why their stuff don't work, "oh, we will send out a tech today, he can 'fix you right up' "

yeah, righto slime ball..... 3 weeks ago, I got a new modem, a new Demarc box on the wall, 350 feet of brand new buried cable to the street Demarc box..... there is only 4,000 feet of buried cable from that box to the AT&T Central Office..... and I got shit for internet service......

I was modifying a website for a friend today, was unable to get anything to "Update and Publish", not even once..... so, I unplugged the CAT5 lan cable, and plugged in my NetGear Wireless adapter and turned on my Verizon MiFi JetPack 4g.... all is well again, just like it should be, minus the data minutes going down the sewer.

I guess you changed your mind on not buying another Samsung
Uh... ..:rolleyes::rolleyes: IF you would have read my original post ;) you would have read where I was leaving Samsung because of no microSD & removable battery... ;) I've said several times since on that post and elsewhere, I could live without the removable battery, but NOT no microSD support. Well news flash... guess you haven't read yet that Samsung brought back the microSD support and much bigger battery.

you are slow on the stick boy, your Signature is out of date :D
Well, at least you know I've been on this forum awhile...

I'm the opposite to you Jack, I can live without the SD card but not the removable battery, so unless Samsung bring this back I'm off. Phil
Better head over to the LG side then as they're the only one who has removable battery, then when they eventually drop it next year, you have to go back to a landline....

I have looked at the new LG G5, and have to admit it looks pretty impressive, I think it will be a while before LG drop the removable battery, they realise that there is a market for phones with this feature, a quick trawl of the Internet will show that there are many, many people unhappy with Samsung's decision to take away the removable battery, anyone who doesn't want this has obviously never been in a situation where a battery pull has been necessary to rescue a phone.
