Wireless charging through cases

When I got my S7 Edge, I tore off my Note 3 Otterbox Commuter case and placed it placed the phone in the case then placed it on the normal (non-fast) Samsung charging pad. It didn't charge. I then took the plastic shell and it still wouldn't charge. Then finally took off the rubber insert and it was finally charging.

Well I ordered a cheapo Ebay case for $8.00 the other day. It came and I put it on. It's mostly made of rubber. It's meant to get me by until my custom made Otterbox Commuter case comes in next week. I tried it on the wireless pad and it's not charging.

The commuter series has the rubber insert in there. I have the Samsung fast charge stand on order but it's on backorder so I don't know when it will be in. Will I need to take off the case everynight to get this thing to charge up?

That's really strange. I have the Speck Candyshell Grip case on my S7, and it charges wirelessly just fine. Had the same case on my S5, and it charged fine with the case as well.

I have read forum posts that say the Samsung Fast Charger pad, will not charge an S7 in a case with rubber insert. I myself have an S7 in an Otterbox Commuter case and I use a Choetech Fast Charge, pad charger. The S7 fast charges just fine with the Choetech and I also have no heat up issues doing the fast charge with said pad.

My 2 Sons and I each have an S7 in Otterbox Commuter and we each have our own Chotech and again no issues as I mentioned above.

I have the Samsung fast charger (The Black Disk, where the phone is vertical on an angle). Charges just fine with the Speck Candyshell Grip Case, and the case also works with PowerBot and my other Non-OEM wireless charging pads.

I have a Incipio DualPro case and my phone charges perfectly on the Samsung Fast Charger. It does need to be positioned in the right spot though.

I got the Samsung Wireless Fast Charger and it works just fine with my Otterbox Defender case. Have had no issues with it charging. Hope this helps.

My wife and I just upgraded to the S7 (her) and S7 Edge (me) and she wanted the wireless charger (regular, not fast). She has a cheapo plastic case until she can find one she likes and I have the Platinum holster/case. Both work just fine with the wireless charger.

Ok so the solution is to wait for the fast charge unit to arrive and get rid of the normal non-fast one I have.

The free one I got came with an adaptive fast charge adapter which I guess pushes out more amps. But the directions say you must use at least 2 amps which is what I have at home.

For a pad to fast charge your S7, the pad must be at least a 10watt pad and you must use this pad with a 18W Adaptive Fast Charger /Quick ChargeTM 2.0 certified, wall charger adapter and a 20AWG micro usb cable.

This is not a fast charge pad. This is the normal charge pad I got free from Samsung Pay. It came with an adaptive fast charge plug though. The one I use at home I have a normal 2 amp plug on which is within specs. Maybe I need an adaptive fast charge plug on that one as well.

Undoubtedly a 5watt pad and not capable of doing a fast charge even if you were to use a a 18W Adaptive Fast Charger /Quick ChargeTM 2.0 certified, wall charger adapter with it. Also, the 20AWG micro usb cable is a must for fast charge ability with the required 10watt pad.

But it charges through the case with the adaptive fast charge plug. It's not a fast charge pad. Maybe it's pulling more than 2 amps which is why it can get through the case.

I'll try my home unit with this adaptive fast charge plug tonight and see if that is the solution. If so I'll buy a plug off amazon tonight.

Can tell you my old 5watt charging pad and regular old wall adapter will regular charge (not fast charge) my S7 that is encased in an Otterbox Commuter case. As I mentioned earlier, to "fast charge" you need at least a 10watt pad and an 18W Adaptive Fast Charger /Quick ChargeTM 2.0 certified, wall charger adapter, along with ae 20AWG micro usb cable if the phone is going to fast charge.

Ok. but this is not a fast charge pad. That's what I'm trying to tell you several times now. This is a normal samsung wireless charge pad. It just came with an adaptive fast charger plug for some reason.

I fully understand what you need to get QC 2.0 speed.
