I had the superstar lg g3, but failed rom bricked it, so i sunk low to stylo now. yet to get it. i didnt brick it but online service roots did. now what i BEG...............................BOUGHT PHONE BEST BUY ONLINE, and need to know now does it automatically update to marshmallow. IM ON BOOST, no its not contract or sim enabled/ does anyone or most all after buying it get marshmallow.

If the phone you get is on Lollipop 5.1.1, beware. It may push the Marshmallow upgrade as soon as it's activated. I have the Virgin Mobile version. It did just that about 2 to 3 days after I had the phone activated. Worse yet... it happened while I had cell phone signal only, not on WiFi! I had to grab a 2 GB data pack just to keep my 4G from being throttled! Spent $10 more for a month... this happened back in mid January to me (around the 17th). Had to root the phone so I could turn off system updates effectively. Really annoying, as I liked it unrooted otherwise.

No ROMs or TWRP recovery is available for the Boost and VM versions of the G Stylo. Still worth rooting in the end for me. Went ahead and made the secondary partition for app linking with Apps2SD. That lets me install a few more programs than I could have while unrooted. Plus there's Titanium Backup... great to have if you plan on debloating the phone. I haven't done that, as I don't see the need for it in my case.

I haven't had any problems with rooting at 5.1.1. Marshmallow is OK to run, but it needs the adoptable storage fix that's listed around here. MM update will auto download, but only when the phone's at 5.1.1. It's worth upgrading the Stylo to at least 5.1.1, as it contains several useful fixes, including the Stagefright issue. From there, you'll need to root it to block any further system updates.

If you don't do anything more than blocking OTA + having the Superuser app while rooted in 5.1.1, it should run just like a normal Android phone.

I REPEAT. ROOTED G3 ITS DEAD. WHY ROOT STYLO. DONE.

To get around the limited amount of memory? Your G3 could fit more apps because it had more internal memory. If you're going to scream at me like that again, I'm not going to help you. I'm trying to be kind here! I've also had Android devices give me the boot.

BACK OFF JACK.I HERE NOTHING.NOR I DIDNT ASK FOR YOUR HELP/
He was just trying to give you a little extra information. If you are rude to the folks who are trying to help you with an issue/problem then people will most likely not try to help at all.

I'm sorry you didn't appreciate his knowledge but others do.

@BAYFISHER , why are you here? If not to seek aid and answers, is your sole purpose to be rude? You signed up yesterday. That is not a good way to find help. These forums have many brilliant hardworking people. People who without, idve been screwed time and time again. So please, if youre going to seek assistance a rude attitude is not needed.
