Help How to backup files to Google drive or onedrive automatically?

Both work pretty much the same way. Just store your files inside Drive or OneDrive folders on your phone and select the WiFi only sync option. You'll have a local copy, but as soon as you hit Wifi, they'll sync any changes or new files to the cloud.

Did you mean store the files in the cloud (Google Drive/OneDrive). When I want to access then open then Google Drive/OneDrive to access?

How do you select the WiFi only sync option?

How to do this "You'll have a local copy, but as soon as you hit Wifi, they'll sync any changes or new files to the cloud."?

Thanks

When you select to store the files to Drive/OneDrive you are really only saving a file to a special folder that will then copy it's contents to the cloud, so you will in effect have two copies. One on your phone and one in the cloud as a backup.

Go to settings in each app and there is option like this:

My files appear to be getting backed up to Google automatically with just the Back up my data option in Backup & reset turned on .. but I have no idea where they're back up to.

When I say 'appear to be backed up', I mean that whenever I add a new directory in phone storage I get a message asking me to confirm that I want to include the new directory in the backup. I confirm I do but when I log onto my Google account via a browser and go to Google Drive, all I can see is one directory I created manually and my photos and videos.

The stats show lots of space used for photos and videos, a bit for Gmail and my manually created folder but nothing else.

No idea where the backed up content has gone

The backup & reset > backup my data option in system settings does not save to Google Drive (which is an app that you do not have to use), it saves to your Google account. It is used to restore your apps+settings/google contacts etc if you wipe your phone and then restore your google account.

It does not save data/docs/photos files that you have created that are on your phone. That is what Drive is for.

The only things that I have created which have received messages asking for confirmation to include in backups are folders containing images, and it is the google Photos app that is asking this.

Q1 When accessing that special folder (I am assuming you mean folder created by Drive/OneDrive?), do I need to be connected to data/wifi? Is the files in the special folder stored in the cloud and not in my phone?

Q2 Each time I create a new document in my folder (that real folder in my phone that I store all my documents) stored in the phone, do I need to manually copy that document to the special folder so that it will appear in Drive/OneDrive? Is there a automated way to let each new document that I add in my folder automatically appear in Drive/OneDrive?

Thanks
