Todo/Calendar/Notepad Requirement -help!

I've moved from Windows Mobile to the HTC Desire and find it good so far. I'm missing some features though - can anyone recommend how to do the following:

1. Have a list of todo items which can be grouped and synced to a desktop/web app. If the todo item also has a date it'll be displayed in the calendar.

2. Store notes which can be grouped and also synced to a desktop/web app. I used to use Phatnotes.

TIA

I've ended up using Astrid for my to-dos. It has labels for tasks that allows them to be grouped and you can record notes against your tasks (and it's free). It has a widget for showing tasks on your phone but it's a bit small. However, it syncs with 'remember the milk' which syncs to my gmail and shows up in the gmail calendar, using the task due date. (Remember the milk is great on a PC and is free on my PC but to use on your phone you have to pay).

For showing my gmail calender on my phone I use 'Pure Calender' . It has lots of different sized widgets (eg 4x3, 3x3... ideal for making it appear on your phone how you like). It shows my tasks in the calender using the task due date (with overdue tasks appearing today).

Hope this helps:)

Oh for for general notes I'm using the Evernote app. This way I can link in with notes I've captured on my PC using the 'standard' PC version Evernote (there's a plugin for Firefox too).

A week later- and trying more options for to do's, calenders etc. Astrid is brilliant for to-do's. Pure calender has great widgets - all different sizes and each one configurable (so I have 2 that are 2x4 on the same screen. One showing to-do's for tasks wiht a specific label. The other widget combinging my gmail calender entries and personal to-do's from Astrid. Both widgets show entries by due date).

While I like evernote on my PC it's not that great (yet) on Android. I've ended up with Mobisle notes which is elegantly simple and effective for lists of things.

Thanks for the advice oatikodi,

Finally settled with:

1. Astrid/RememberTheMilk for general Todo's (You don't have to pay for any of this..)
2. Google Calendar for things to do on a certain date
3. Evernote for notes. The Android app is not very good, I was thinking of using DropBox and creating text files for each note but I never found a file editor which could create a file.

Seems to work OK so far but still miss my Outlook Sync and PhatNotes..

I'm in the same boat - trying to find a solution that either syncs Outlook calendar, notes, tasks, etc. while maintaining its priorities, categories, etc. Tried companionlink, but didn't like the dejaoffice program that installs on the phone.

So I am still looking...

I was a longtime user of Palm Desktop (on a Treo 650 and my PC) and I can't believe nothing like this exists for Android.... :(

3. Evernote for notes. The Android app is not very good, I was thinking of using DropBox and creating text files for each note but I never found a file editor which could create a file.

AL Notepad (by Amblelink) works with .txt files stored on your SD card and has a full "file" menu for new, save, open, close, etc, of .txt files. Seems to work well.

Shame there's no file sync between PC and SD card though.

A few weeks on I've settled on the following:

1. Calendar:

1.1 Google calender for events

1.2 Calendar pad (and widget) for viewing my diary.

2. To do's:

2.1 'Thinking space' mind mapper for listing my tasks (I like mindmapping- this way I can do "tasks" by week, by month etc and hide the detail if I want).

2.2 Astrid for very specific to-dos

2.3 I still have 'Pure calender' (and widgets) which allows me to show tasks and to-dos by date. I'm using this a bit less now.

3. Notes:

3.1 I'm using 'Thinking space' mind mapper for things like shopping lists etc (mind maps are great for flexibility. It looks like you can link/sync maps on your andoid to maps on your PC through 'Thinking spaces' cloudify option. This uses google's servers- though I've only done a bit of basic syncing of maps between my phone and pc).

3.2 '3banana' for adhoc notes (I can save details from apps to 3banana directly). It's simple and effective.

3.3 I'm half using Evernote still. But the implementation on android could do with some imrovements (eg I don't like having to hit the menu key to get to a list of notes). I heard that Evernote are working on improving the android implementation so definitely one to watch, especially as the PC version is so great.

(Also, using dropbox for syncing files. 'More icons' has helped a lot- it allows 4 apps to fit into the space that would normally have one app. That frees up some of my HTC Desire screens to have larger widgets, like my monthly calendar).
