Root [GUIDE] How to root T-Mobile 6.0 update

@Zardoz007 , afaik, in order to use kingroot. You have to unlock the bootloader first. This can be done using adb and fastboot. During the process, you can boot your phone temporarily to twrp, flash the supersu zip, then reboot system. If twrp asks if you want to install supersu say no. Once rebooted, use flashify to flash twrp, and you should now have root and custom recovery installed. My main reason for this post is because i had the same issue with kingroot. The adb fastboot method seemed far easier and safer imho.

Man, I tell ya, I'm so frustrated I'm ready to Vote Trump! I feel driven to get this done tonight, but I am running out of time, and pissing off my wife in the process. Effin' Easter!

I dunno if I got the right drivers. The ones that the phone instals? Device manager seems to think they are fine. Although it does list more than a few of them when I go and look it up. Adb has fastboot. Maybe I need to uninstal/reinstal it. Had to use the older one, new one gave me the 0 files coped issue. I can't seem to find in programs where to uninstal it however. My freaking brain is trying to kill me at this point, I think.

I sincerely appreciate all you smart guys helping me out here. I dunno if I have the will to go on...sob...
If I don't stop, I could be up for days, and my wife and kids will stop speaking to me if I 'Eff up Easter.
I may just have to live with the wonderfull world of UNROOTED Marshmallow for a while until someone MUCH MUCH smarter and more patient than I figures out a one-click trick.

from what ive seen on the surface no changes but in the code its brought imrovements to art and a form of deep sleep when the device is locked that actually saves battery

My nexus 7 2013 runs marshmallow better than this stylo (at least my specific stylo). Don't get me wrong the standby time is great but the battery seems to tank when I'm using the phone. More so than it did in 5.1.1 but nothing major or epic. I'd just say a decrease. I'm still sticking with marshmallow though. Defintiely. I think the now on top is useful if I can train myself to use it instead of copy/paste to search things but old habits are hard to break lol

Have you looked in the device manager in Windows to see how it has your device labeled when you are comnected and in fastboot mode? This can tell you for sure if it is a driver issue as it will show a yellow question mark if the drivers are not installed. Download the .exe to install the latest lg drivers from here. Like I said before you need to have your device connected when you install the drivers and you may have to connect your device in fastboot mode and re install the driver also.

Now if you want to use linux you can make a bootable flash drive to boot Ubuntu and use it. You just need a flash drive that is atleast 4 gigs. Just google how to make a bootable flash drive for Ubuntu in Windows and you will find toms of very easy to follow guides online. Once you have a bootable flashdrive(or if you choose to just install Ubuntu) you can use install adb and fastboot by entering the following commands in terminal.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:phablet-team/tools && sudo apt-get update

Then this one.

sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot

Can you upload a new link to the drivers ? That link didn't work for me and the drivers I had installed to update my metro stylo don't seem to be working for this.

Everything works great until I type fastboot devices. Adb devices works and shows I'm attached. Adb reboot bootloader works.

I enter fastboot devices and nothing shows.

The oem unlock command just says "waiting for device" until I give up n close it down

OK i finally got it working. I had to flash the SU zip twice. First time everythingvwent according to plan.

But upon boot I didn't have root.

I Boot into twrp again and flashed again and this time it worked

Do I flash the recovery IMG u provided with flashify or do i use a different version of twrp?
I'm doing it this way because it failed to flash via fastboot as warned it may do

You can use kingroot if you fully unlock your bootloader just let kingroot do its thing get flashify flash twrp uninstall kingroot boot in recovery flash supersu and done full root and kingroot will be nonexistent no soft brick either I tested on metro version already so if you ever need to resest phone for any reason no need to use adb to root again I dropped the stylo though for s7 but still using it to help out with Roms I stopped on stock debloated to work with cm13 atm

Updated the guide to show steps to properly use Kingroot to root successfully thanks for the info.

i tried kingroot after flashing Tmobile to my Metro and updating to MM...
and it got me in a boot loop after rebooting on its own....
i did'nt get to flashify anything...but, it did say i was rooted....
so i updated to MM twice...boot looped twice
before giving up and leaving it vanilla MM

u need to unlock the bootloader
through adb commands
