Help Problem receiving some text messages

Phone as opposed to data? So does that mean I got the "Download" message not because I had "data" turned off, but because maybe I lost regular phone signal during the time the message was received?

thanks,

TBH, I'm not sure if it's the phone connection or data.

What I do know is SMS text messages are not sent through Wifi.

I get the "download" message sometimes because my friends and relatives who have the iPhone text me and I don't always get their message. Just curious, are any of your texts (with the download message) coming from iPhones? (This is not just the Stylo but for my previous Android phones as well)

Yes, most of them are from iPhones (although it isn't every iPhone text that does it - same sender, sometimes it does it other times it does not.) I just come to expect that from Apple since they don't like to play well with others.

However, I do have one from an android phone.

That is probably the main issue then. iPhones and Android text messages don't play well together. Their iMessaging app is the main culprit.

However, if other phones do it, then I would suggest you double check your APN settings. Also, aren't you on Boost? Their texting service is erratic.

If the iPhones are using iMessage and sending group texts, then they will come though as MMS messages, not SMS, which means it will need a data connection. And, if your phone number has EVER been used with an iPhone .. ever ... you may have to deregister it with iMessage for messages to be delivered at all.

Haven't had Boost or Sprint in 4 years. I remember doing all that and also remembering Boost's sketchy texting service. Seems like nothing changed
I had a ex who I taught a lot tech troubleshooting stuff to who had and loved boost mobile and so I had to learn her tech troubles and teach her how to fix it and that's how I know. Yes apparently it seems to be a boost only issue since someone from VM said that they haven't had that issue and my ex has another boost zte max and came to me again with this issue and I had to help her fix it again. LMAO Now all her friends come to her with their tech issue's haha she's my lil protege

I was on Virgin before Boost. I didn't have any text issues on Virgin either. I switched to Boost because Virgin's phone selection dwindled down to nothing and at the time the Stylo was only on Boost and I wanted a Stylo - so I switched to Boost. (Had Boost before Virgin too) With lack of phones I was beginning to think Virgin was doing out of business.

LG Stylo...exact same thing. I just bought it in January for 130 at Best Buy. I've read all the forums. It's not the provider. It's the device and it's only after the upgrade to Marshmallow. LG knows about it. I just got off the phone with their worthless foreign call center. As soon as I got two minutes in he already knew and had a prepared response (in very broken english) as to what I had to do to fix this problem. Yes you heard me right "I have to do". I'll get to the reason I say it that way in a minute. They first ask what device you are having problems with. Then I described the issue. He instantly said it's a warranty claim. Sounds great right? The warranty claim involves me first sending my phone to LG. I said "I need a phone and I can't just send you my phone" and his response is that my service provider can POSSIBLY provide me with a "loaner". Lets look at that now shall we. I call Boost, MAYBE they offer that service. Lets just say that they do for the sake of my rant. Now as I'm missing extremely important sms messages I wait for this mythical loaner device. How long you ask? Who knows. Could be seven days could be 45. I can't risk that. Now if that happens and I receive this substitute I now have to take the time to transfer everything I have to this "loaner". Setting up a new phone is not like plugging in a lamp and we all know that. More time spent on top of the amount of time I just spent talking to LG's worthless call center (that according to this guy operates on Sundays completely unsupervised...trust me I asked) plus the time I'm about to spend on the phone with my service provider and LG before this is over. Then I ship my phone to LG. Now we have packaging and shipping tasks to do and I don't know about all of you but that is not what I like to do in the limited free time I have. Then we wait.........How long? Who knows right? If their warranty department is as well put together as their foreign call center it could be three presidential terms from now. Then guess what? After all that guess what all my wasted time was for? Guess what they expect me to do all of this for? ANOTHER STUPID FLAWED LG STYLO THAT'S GOING TO DO THE EXACT SAME THING!!!!!! Sooooo in closing. I'm already in trouble in my personal life and in my career due to all of the things I missed that I didn't even realize I was missing. All of the work and responsibility of fixing the issue is going to fall on me. The best possible outcome LG is offering me is to jump through hoops only to have them reship me the exact same problem child. AND when you look at it from my perspective as a consumer the only thing I'm guilty of is being a loyal customer of LG and giving them my hard earned dollars for their broken product that they obviously know is broken. Last statement........THEY ARR STILL SELLING THIS PIECE OF JUNK TO INSUSPECTING CONSUMERS!!!

I've been having issues getting texts and notifications on my Boost Mobile Moto E 2015 as well. This year is the first time I've ever had any texting issues and I've been with boost for 5 years now.

Hell they released an update for the Moto E 2015 on the 16th and it still hasn't rolled out to my device. I was hoping it had a fix for this texting/notification issue.

So I filed a BBB complaint against Boost which ended up at Sprint's Executive Department because I am having the same problem with my Boost Service and LG Stylo.

Boost gave me a free phone to keep while I sent the Stylo off. (Boost pointed the finger at LG immediately). I sent the phone off to LG and it came back with a sudo fix of "repaired speaker".

Still having the same issue of course.

Both Boost and LG conveniently point fingers at each other but conveniently refuse to talk to one another.

I would have to say that with the other boost phone that they gave me, I did not encounter any issues with texting....but still who knows if I would have encountered issues over time?

Could this be a fix?

No problems after installing SMSPro....but then again who knows if this is just a coincidence. I have a finite amount of time to jerk around with this mess.

No I've never had an iPhone...always been android

What exactly is that and what all does it reset?

That code is used to "reprovision your phone with your account, to be done in conjunction with a provisioning process from the service provider. Using that code alone or without the service provider doing what is needed on their end does little to nothing. I've been down that road dealing with the Same problem on my phone and learned the hard way.

What fixed the problem for me was Using Google's newest "Messaging" app (not "Messenger") as my default messaging app. No more send/receive problems since.

This is the only phone I've had this problem with and I almost gave up until trying several different apps to find that this one fixed the issue for me. I'm using the LG G Stylo LS770. (Boost)

Hangouts was Googles old messaging app. Messenger is the is the new one. I search for "Google" on the play store and find no more messaging apps by them. Please tell us the exact name of the app that we can search on or attach a link to it in the playstore. Thanks

The app is called "messaging" by Google.
I was using Hangouts was my default for some time until this problem made it obsolete for me. Odd I can't seem to find it now. I'll keep trying, hopefully I can find the link so you and others can try it for yourselves.
