Nova has done it again! They now allow you to change the color of the search bar and they have night mode!

I have had Nova for a long time, and I never had "white glare"....

I use a solid black wallpaper, and the icons are the only thing that show up....
works great, and don't need a "night mode"

I really like the way it can handle 'Folders'. I group everything together that makes sense to me, a lot less clutter on the screens.

You can make Nova settings dark now and the search bar it you want to as well. You can also change the color of the search bar and the transparency to what ever you like as well. Those things have to be of some use to you and your eyes [emoji6]

No you do not need to be root-ed. It gives you control of the overall look-and-feel of your device.

You can install the free version and set it as your default launcher. If you don't like it you can revert painlessly to the launcher that came with your device.

Being able to save/restore the home screen configuration is simply great. Consider ... save configuration, Factory Data Reset, restore configuration as just one example.

What else did Nova add? Any security or other usages besides screen dark? I don't need that, I prefer my own photography for wallpaper.

It's good for those who want it, but unless there's something else of value, I'll pass.
Their isn't much security a 3rd party launcher can add really. They have added the ability to customize the search bar. Color, font, Google logo ect...

It doesn't change your wallpaper.
It changes the search bar, app drawer, folder background, and launcher settings to dark.
With options not to change any or all of those (see pictures above for options)

I update the 290 apps I have installed whenever there is an update available. Then entire thrust in Android is based on moving forward with improvement after improvement that are in many cases the result of improvements made by competitors.

The ONLY app I have had a problem with after upgrading to Marshmallow is Hybrid Stopwatch and Timer.

It's funny how half of this forum complains about not getting updates to the latest version of Android from the phone manufacturers.... Whilst the other half doesn't want software vendors to change things and update their apps ;)

Nova has been getting incrementally better ever since I bought it.. And I'm happy for them to keep up the good work.

Andy, my daughter's HTC One M9 is eligible for Marshmallow and she said "Hell No!" and so it is still on 5.1.x

guess she don't like change either.... especially if it works as it is 'right now' :)

It just plain pisses me off when menus change for no damn good reason,
fonts change for unwarranted reasons,
colors change for unwarranted reasons,

Icons disappear, and apps break.... We just don't want any of that.
so, us "old sticks in the mud" just keep on being happy with what we have....

and at the end of the day, all of our phones are still "working just fine". :)
