K7 speaker intermittently stops working?

Hi all.

I recently acquired an LG K7 via T-Mobile, it is the first android phone I've used although I have experience with a couple of tablets. But I'm far from an expert so it is quite possible this post is a side effect of some stupid misconfiguration I made or whatever.

When I power cycle my K7, initially it comes up and everything works as I expect; in particular I get little feedback chirps and beeps as I manipulate the UI, audio from websites such as youtube plays out the speaker(s), and the ring tones ring when a phone call or message comes in.

But at some random time later, usually less than two or three hours and seemingly without provocation, all sounds from the speaker(s) cease to function. I can still talk on the phone and hear my interlocutor, so the little ear-positioned-speaker is working to some extent. But I get no audible UI feedback, no audio from webpages, and no ringtones (only vibration) when somebody calls or messages me.

I have spent hours circling fruitlessly through the various settings menus looking for and toggling just about every audio-related thing in an attempt to fix this, but the only thing that seems to work is a power down/power up.

Can anyone think of what I might be doing wrong to cause this?

Have others experienced this behavior?

Thanks for any information.

have you tried using the extended volume management sliders?

use your volume up button to birng up the system volume and click on the little gear to the right of it
it should display more sound options such as ringtone, notification, touch feedback & system, and music, video, games and other media.

make sure you dont have the other sliders set to the left position as the volume slider will just control "ringtone" while the others wont slide.
