As stated above, I stuck the pin that came with the phone into the very small microphone hole on the bottom. I never tried out the speaker before I purchased the phone but comparing it to my LG G2 the speaker just doesn't sound as good. I can cover up the speaker and it will be very quiet and also it doesn't seem as clear as my LG g2's speaker. It seems as of the sound is very unbalanced and almost pointing vertically downwards and not towards me. Did I break the phone speakers??

Hello there! Welcome to AF!
I just got the G5 recently also and can compare the speaker to my G3.
On the G5, I will agree that the downward pointing speaker is a little different to me but better than on the back:)

If the speaker works and doesn't sound garbley, I would assume you'd be just fine. You poked the pin in the mic or the speakers?

What do you mean by, "unbalanced"?

If you look at the bottom of the phone there is a very small hole on the far right. That is what I poked. What I mean by unbalanced is when I hold my phone sideways the audio sounds like it is only coming from the side that the speaker is on. I have 14 days to return with a 35 dollar restock fee and I can't tell if I did something to the speaker or if the phone speaker is just like that.

Ah, ok I gotcha:)
Can your calling party hear you when you talk?
Or, how about testing the "ok google" or the keyboard voice option to see if the mic. is functioning?

I think your speaker is fine as that is the only speaker that the audio comes from.

I'd be more concerned with the mic function after getting poked :p

Yes I do. I do not experience the hissing. I believe that is because audio comes from more than one slot on that phone thus creating a different kind of sound that is not so highly concentrated to one area.
Interesting. Now you got me thinking to light up my G3 and test it lol :)
Anyway, I would guess your device is ok, but curious to know what you find out if you go back to the store to compare it to others:)

All right, it turns out that my speaker is fine. I went into the store and the guy let me test out another phone and I played the same video at the same time and they sounded very similar. The guy was super nice and I even followed him on to twitch LOL.
Good to hear! :thumbsupdroid::thumbsupdroid:
Now, no more sticking things into unfamiliar holes. Wait, that doesn't sound right.....at all. :p
