2.1 Must Have Apps

@jlrosell
Yeah that was my purpose of this thread, hope most people figure that out.

I'm hoping that along with better apps, that 2.1 will improve the text message deletion issues. Reduce the time it takes to delete large amounts of text messages, and add a feature that automatically gets rid of old messages or something.

Of course, the navigation aspect of Google Maps is nice. I have version 3.413 because the last time I updated it the search result info screen had been mangled so badly the program became a real pain to use. The intensive therapy I had to undergo to get over the horror has made it difficult to remember the details, but I remember that when I would search the map for, say, hotels and select one, the info screen that came up had nothing of use when it opened. The only on screen option was "Buzz", which I know some people might use once or twice a week, but to get the other options, like Navigate, and Get Directions, etc, I had to swipe to an off screen page. Thank god for Xanax. And thank god I was able to roll back to the good version.

Also, check out the labs options in the More section of the map menu. You can put an on screen button for My Location, Layers, etc., as well as a scale bar and other cool things. Don't know if that's exclusive to 2.1.

Also, tapping the home key on the home screen brings up the seven home thumbnails, same as pinching. I haven't seen anybody mention that, and pinching is a real pain with one hand.

theres a sticky on this

I think this thread was intended to be a discussion of programs that only work with 2.1. The stickied one seems to be about Android programs in general.

I assumed the intent of the OP was to help people ::ahem:: get the most out of their Android device now that it has the exciting new 2.1 operating system by exploring the programs exclusively available to people who were, until recently, treated by Verizon as criminals. I tried to do the blinding white toothed sales pitch, but I think a little sarcasm leaked through.

I've yet to see that keyring app work at best buy, giant eagle or sams club or even sheetz for that matter.

I've noticed that I have to adjust the brightness for some stores. I've also noticed that newer stores have scanners and I have better results. I have two Krogers that are equal distances apart from me and one is brand new. Keyring works 100% of the time at the new one, but only about 30% of the time at the old one.
