Google and Jibe are about to make this a real thing and hopefully a standardized service that'll be available to all...

So what are your hopes and dreams for it, favorite RCS App's already, one's that already included sms as well messaging.

T-Mobile and Samsung have already taken the step with Advanced Messaging replacing Stock SMS Messaging on some of their latest Galaxy Devices.

How soon do you think it'll be before the Jibe Google app is made, improved upon and available to most every android phone.

Read more about RCS, Google and Jibe here: https://jibe.google.com/

Here's the regular Jibe app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=msgplus.jibe.sca&hl=en

Hangouts is RCS. As one of the few big users of hangouts ( most i know just disable it when they get a new phone cuz they "have text messaging already") i would love to see a hangouts like experience.

Some of the biggest reasons i love hangouts:

1. You can install it, sign in and your conversations sync across devices. The message (and full conversation including pictures etc) is availavle on every single device you have that has hangouts.

I consider myself a serious android user. I have 2 nexus tablets and about 7 to 9 android phones (all but 3 are just old mid range dinosaurs)

So naturally it appeals to me that i can text from my phone....then answer from the bedroom if i forgot something in there or whatever the case may be.

If i have internet. I have my full conversation. From anywhere. Text cant do that. You send a text and you only get it on your phone. Its not as conveinent.

I feel most users here also operate a handful of devices at a time and probably agree hangouts is a great way to stay in touch without being tied to a specific device.

2. Replying from the directly from the status bar.

Love it. Extremely conveinent. Some oems have pop up notification software for text that Enables you to reply without going into the text app (im thinking of certain LG devices ) would be even better. But none the less its conveinent and a step quicker than the current standards.

The hangouts design imo is perfect. You can take (or select from gallery) record a voice message . add emojis. Etc all right from the conversation. Its the way texts should be considering it 2016. Imo little has changed in the area of standard text message.

In addition that 160 character limit has to go. A short paragraph is like 7 texts. Lol. Unacceptable

Maybe you hate hangouts but rcs is basically the same idea. Its supposed to support more messenger type friendly functions where the text message was a dumb phone invention that oems have tried to modernize by incorporating the ability to send pictures Etc ( dumb phones didn't initially have cameras for example)

But now google is leading the charge on a new text messaging standard. Hangouts likely won't be the answer as its a Google product and I'm sure oems and carriers will have a fit over that but rcs would incorporate features hangouts has.

But if the recipient isn't on hangouts do they not receive the hangouts message and only the texts sent from it, it'd be nice if texts and instant messages were merged together and sent regardless.

You can only send one way not both. I use Hangouts w/my wife and I have a choice, IM or SMS. I always choose IM because it's instant and her Hangouts is logged in on her phone. However, if she was logged out of HO, she would have the message there once she logs in. Also, like xyourxhignessx was saying, I can IM her from my tablet (wifi), phone or computer (wifi). Hangouts has its own dedicated website where you can IM all day. Can't really do that on SMS unless you use a third party app like Pushbullet (which is starting to charge a monthly fee now for their premium service).

Hangouts isn't perfect and it's clunky but I hope the Google/Jibe app will be alot smoother.

This is the big limitation for hangouts. Or pretty much any messaging service.

But yes i agree it would be nice to be able to link your texts with hangouts (or whatever service you like) and be able to receive/send messages across devices. That's my biggest beef with text. It can only be used from your phone so you're tied to it.

Yes That's exactly the way i use hangouts most. My wife and i use it religiously. We don't ever text each other. Its nice that if we have internet; we have our conversation.

Its what i hope will be possible with rcs otherwise i probably won't use it. Plus i love the super useful little features like being able to see what message the other person read last and to be able to see when we're typing etc.

Thanks I'll give it a try one of these days.
I can confirm this. Capture+_2016-04-09-14-58-48.png Capture+_2016-04-09-15-02-17.png
