Cold boot of Moto G Gen 1 (XT1032, 2012) in to Safe Mode?

Does anyone know how to do a cold boot of a Gen 1 Moto G (XT1032) in to safe mode?

My device goes into a boot loop and so I cannot even get at the power down screen to go into Safe Mode that way.

I can power down from the boot loop (by holding power and vol down for 15 secs) and then letting it go into fastloader menu. Then just pressing the power button powers down. But cannot find any way to then power up into Safe mode from cold.

Any help appreciated.

Since you can get into fastboot, either flash a custom recovery and a custom ROM, or you can flash the stock firmware. I don't believe you can do a safe boot except from a shut down from a full start.

Thanks for the replies.

Seems crazy if one cannot boot to Safe Mode from cold (I know it is possible with other Android devices).

Phone not rooted.

If I can't get in to Safe Mode to try and resolve the boot loop issue I'll end up doing a factory reset.
I've never known that you can boot into safe mode from a fully turned off device. I've only known you can from a fully booked device by pressing and holding the power off option. How do you do it?

The only access I have ever seen to Safe Mode on any phone was as an option when you hit the power button when the phone was powered on.

See message #11.

With it powered on ... did you try holding down the power button until it went black and then something appears and you released the power button? This is analogues to the old "battery pull".

That's what I was thinking, too.

Only some phones can enter Safe mode with a cold boot. It would be good to have in the fastboot menu for all phones.

Some older phones I found from here:

DROID RAZR:
Turn on the phone. When the Motorola Dual Core screen appears, simultaneously press and hold Volume Up and Down keys on the side of the phone. Continue to hold down these keys until the lock screen appears or you see "Safe Mode" in the bottom corner.

Motorola Droid:
Press and hold the Menu button and then turn on the phone. As the phone starts, keep holding down the button until the lock screen appears or the phone vibrates.

HTC (with physical buttons):
Press and hold the Menu button and then turn on the phone. As the phone starts, keep holding down the Menu button until the lock screen appears or you see "Safe Mode" in the bottom corner.

Nexus One:
Turn on the phone. When the phone logo appears, press and hold the trackball on the phone until the lock screen appears or you see "Safe Mode" in the bottom corner.

How do you do it? Is it the 2012 or the 201ex model?
T-Mobile Nexus 7 2012:
  1. Remove the battery from the phone.
  2. Re-insert the battery.
  3. Press and hold the Menu key.
  4. While holding the Menu key, turn on the device.
  5. When you see the lock screen, you can release the Menu key. 'Safe mode' displays in the lower-left corner.
  6. Uninstall any third-party apps that gave you problems.

Apologies for delay in replying.

Nexus 7 2012 cold boot into safe mode (without removing battery):

From a cold start boot (press & release Power button), wait 2 seconds after the B&W Google (bootloader) splash screen appears, then press and hold Vol-Down button until the normal OS boot is fully completed (lock screen or home screen appears)
