I have already fast charging disabled. However there's something I noticed. The drain of the S7 on my 9000mah powerbank is staggering. It drained 28% of the bank to charge up around 13%. That 28% is already nearly 2520mah, converted to 468mah. In comparison, my Galaxy V (1500mah full capacity) goes from 5% to 100% on 20-25% of my bank (1800-2250mah), and my Note 2 (3100mah full capacity) goes from 50-100% with about the same 20-25% from my bank. I wondered if the bank was broke, so I tested it on my Galaxy V and Galaxy Tab (4000mah) to charge, and I'm getting the same projected rate of an additional 500-700mah lost on top of the actual capacity needed for heat or electrical transfer. The 7 Edge is killing the bank.

As of typing this though, I realized I was using the power bank supplied cable, and haven't tried the supplied cable on the S7, or my Silvertec cable. So I will be trying both later. and see if there is any difference. I'm starting to not like this fast charge tech.

I have 2 different power banks, one made by ANKER, the other I don't remember, however I do not have this problem on either one of them. Both are capable of fast charging and I have used them with fast charging on and fast charging off. The drain is no different on the S7 edge than the S6 edge and the S5. The choice of cable does not seem to make a difference.

I'm using a Bavin 9000mah power bank. Hadn't tested it again today, since I started downloading a pretty big game yesterday and that would probably affect the power draw.

Interesting. Turning on Fast Charging made the power draw normal, close to the power draw of my other devices.

power banks are must for smart phone users like me I' roaming around and always so no possible chances of getting mobile charged. It's worthy to have a power bank. I think it's not good for mobile to use always fast charging it may lags the phone.

I think most power banks on say Amazon are fakes.

I have just bought two 6000mAh ones (about £10 each i.e. cheap) and they have at most 50% of that capacity. I also have two Zendure ones (6000 and 10000mAh) which cost about 3x as much and they have the claimed capacity (and they offer charge-through which is nice).

Nope. Didn't buy it Amazon. I'm not even in the US. My problem lies in the fact that my 9000mah battery is able to charge my Galaxy V twice and my Note 2 once on a single charge with about 15% to spare (that means charging 6000mah worth of batteries with about 1500mah left in the tank), but can only charge my S7 once with very little left.

Sometimes, batteries are faulty.

It's hard to account for the missing energy without something getting very hot.

I am getting the feeling you're not really seeing the issue. Lol.

The missing energy with the S7 is way too much.

To be clearer still, I still have the Galaxy V and Note 2, and trying the power bank again with them gave me both fully charged with still 40% of the power bank remaining. Thats 3100mah for the Note 2 and 1500mah for the Galaxy V, using up around 5000mah of the power bank. I ran a lot of tests with these phones and thr power bank and they were charging almost identical mah per mah as declared by the power bank in optimal conditions.

The last time I charged the S7 with the power bank, it gave be 50% charge (from 20 to 70%) on the S7, but it ate about 35% of the power bank. Thats almost 3000mah to charge 1700mah on a phone.

And unplugging the S7 and plugging in the Galaxy V, the power bank reverts back to its previously expected output.

It's like the S7 has a huge draw on the power bank's battery.

Of course the previous test with the S7 has the fast charging turned off. The last time I tried turning fast charging on and it seemed to have lower draw from the power bank. Still testing it out though.

Me too not from the US, I've got one power bank from from one Indian site http://www.latestone.com/ptron-ritzy-12000-mah-slim-power-bank-with-two-usb-outputs-silver It works fine it charges my Moto E(2nd) 3 times for full. But Only thing power bank has to charge More than 10-15 hours. that not big problem but often. I don't know all amazon are not worthy because My bro has one local Indian brand Ambrane from amazon it works good. Why don't you contact customer care for this issue.

Because it appears to be an issue only with the S7 Edge and not any other phone, which makes it more likely to be a phone charging tech issue rather than the power bank.

Update. Tested several times on a "high quality cable" that I have (well it's like 8x more expensive than generic cables, and has good output capacity compared as well), and the phone isn't eating up the power bank like before. Must be something about the supplied cable with the power bank that the S7 doesn't like. I still haven't tested the original cable Samsung provided with the phone though.

However, the power bank is noticeably hotter when charging the S7 Edge as compared to charging other devices.
