Help S7 Edge Earphones Issue

Hi everyone!

I recently got my S7 Edge, basically less than 2 months ago. It's my baby, I absolutely love it.

But I have this issue, a few days ago, the control on my earphones stopped working, all 3 buttons. And of course, the microphone too. It works on occasion, if I twist the wire a few times, I've tried
basically everything, cleaned any debris and I even made sure it's pushed all the way into the jack. I initially thought it was a motherboard issue, but I checked with another pair of earphones, seemed to be working relatively fine. Still unsure, haven't gotten a pair of proper Android earphones, so I can't exactly say it's a motherboard issue or the earphones. And now, the sound is only available in the right ear, unless I clamp down on the wire, or apply pressure to the wire by pulling it a certain way. I know this seems like it's definitely the Earphone issue, but again, I'm far from an expert and hence I decided to ask it here. I really hope it is, rather than having to send my phone in for repair, really don't have time for that.

Any help? Any advice?

Really sad cause I can't bear if I had to replace anything or worse still, my
entire phone.

Alright, thanks! Sorry for long post!

Hi @carmenl98 welcome to Android Forums. You are right, it certainly sounds like a defective headset. Probably a broken wire. I'd recommend not using them any more as if it's a short circuit and not simply a broken wire it might effect the phone long-term. Probably not, but no reason not to play it safe, especially if your S7 is your 'baby'. ;) :)

Thank you so much! And yes, it is. It's my only new phone in the last 7 years or so, I'm treasuring it :)
