Help What is this icon?

I'm hopefully including a screenshot of my phone. In my messages there is one person who has this little green mute icon by his name (top most person). What is this icon, why is it by this one person, and how do I get rid of it?
I'm using the stock messages program on the s7, I just have a Samsung theme installed so that's why it looks different.

It looks like that particular contact is muted. Try going into contacts. Select that contact. Select edit and see what's assigned for message tone. If not shown select "add another field".

Ok so I checked that and there was a default tone assigned. I changed it to something else just in case but that did not remove the icon.
