Is there anything I need to do to prep for reformatting for app2sd?

Truly tired of the limited space and have started reading up on doing the format. I elect for many of my apps to save data on the SD card and am wondering whether now running the phone without it (or a reformatted one) would cause trouble. I suppose I could copy contents to my computer then re-transfer afterwards but I just want to check if theres potential snags I could experience in the process.

This lack of internal space is complete crap. i know the EVO will double the hero's memory, but the rumored froyo or gingerbread update that brings native app2sd is still necessary. the apps and games that flash 10.1 will allow are going to easily swallow a ton of space.

just curiuos. what could potentially happen if i do?

are there apps that are better off compared to others run from the sd card? like, is it better to run a browser from the internal and games from the SD, etc

well.... depending on what gets put to the SD card.. if it's just apps, pulling the card while powered up or powering on without the card present will not allow any apps to run. most likely ending up with nothing but force closes over and over.... basically a useless phone.

if the davlik or other system caches or apps get pushed to the SD (some people do this on purpose, some ROM's could be set to do this as well). Powering on without the card or removing the card while powered on can result in a phone that will no longer boot. RUU might save the phone, it might not..

I have seen posts before where users had no choice but to RUU to save the phone... I have seen some that just replaced the SD card and rebooted. my only concern is.... what happens if the SD card fails??
