Why buy an EVO if you have no 4G in your area?

Is it still worth it to buy it even though you may not have 4G coverage? I don't think we'll be getting it for quite a while. By the time we do, it will be time for an upgrade

Almost every other phone you buy will be limited to 3G anyway so why not get the EVO even if you don't currently have 4G coverage?

Still worth it to me. It's cheaper than my Touch Pro was when it was first released. If I don't like it, I'll just deal with it for a year until my next upgrade is available...LOL.

Who knows how widespread 4g will be this time next year. I'm assuming it will be available here by then, eventhough my city isn't on the 2010 lists I've seen so far.

That being said, the 10 extra dollars has me considering my options with verizon and the Incredible instead.

Dare I take this debate a step further and ask "Why buy an EVO and pay the extra $10/mo if you have limited 3G in your area...and mostly lame 1X?"

I know how great the phone is and will be on WiFi...but the fact is that it's difficult to praise the virtues of the Evo when 80-85% of your area is blanketed in Sprint's 1X coverage!! Come on Hesse! How is that right? ...Doesn't seem like the greatest tactic to use when you're trying to lure in new customers from the likes of the greedy Verizon & AT&T....kinda makes you look like much the same.

For now, my Family Share lines will stay with Verizon and await their first 4.3" Android phone (whenever that may be!) ...After seeing the HD2 & Evo, those dinky 3.7" screens just don't cut it!
