Next phone?

So, now that we are nearing the 2 year mark with the LG G3, just curious what everyone is doing with their phone. Planning on keeping the phone or upgrading? If you're upgrading, what phone are you getting? Trying to make up my mind right now. Thanks for the response!

Atm Im still happy with my G3. I resetted it yesterday and now it's as Good as New

Well mine just inexplicably died on Sat. Was waiting to see if the Moto Z was gonna be any good. I may just go back to Samsung (had a s3). I am having to use my wife's old G2 (which is surprisingly still spry) which I chose over my old s3 as the temp phone. I got a Moto X pure replacement for my wife's bday (they are not lake safe), but was tempted to use it as mine. She dropped hers in a lake, Asurion does not have them to replace, talked them into swapping for a Turbo 2 which I may decide to take over. But...

I want good battery life, I like the water resistance of the s7 (but I never did anything bad water wise with my g3) so the moto coating may be enough for me (original Moto X had the nano coating too but did not survive my daughter and the toilet). I want decent sound (preferably front speakers). I think, besides some particulars, the main base of technology (processor and memory, storage) are the same across this gen of flagships. My decision is the water resistance worth vs better battery and mods (which i probably won't buy).

I voted for "Nothing. Keeping my G3!."

In part, because I only purchased it a few days ago.

Oh, I'm sure I'll replace it eventually, but probably not for a G5, S7, or HTC 10. More likely, for one of those phone's successors. Although, who knows? If, 18 months down the road, those phones are going for $129 in "Like new/factory refurb" condition, I suppose I could be tempted. (That's pretty much why I bought the G3 - the "super phone" of 18 months ago is today's $129 special.)

Frankly, there's no "killer feature" on any of today's top of the line phones which appeals to me so much that I'm eager to upgrade from the G3. Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying that the G3 is perfect, nor even that it's the best phone on the market today. Just that it's not lacking any cutting edge feature which leaves me feeling terribly dissatisfied with my current choice of cell phone.

Wish I had this outcome. Reset mine 2 days ago and I feel like it's worse now. Some of my apps were acting weird initially but have started working properly now. Also it feels like the battery drains faster and doesn't charge nearly as quick.

As for my original post, I'm leaning towards the HTC 10 (atm need good sound from the phone on a regular basis) though I might try and wait for the new nexus, which is rumored to be only a few months away and a HTC phone.

I'm still happy with my G3 and am enjoying Marshmallow. However, recently Bluetooth has quit working. The phone does not recognize ANY Bluetooth devices. I did a factory reset, which didn't help.. So, I may be looking to make a switch in December when my 2 years are up. I was looking forward to finally keeping a phone for longer than the 2 years, but miss Bluetooth connectivity with my 360 and vehicle...

I've really enjoyed my G3 until a month ago when my bluetooth started failing on me. I might try a factory reset, and while I don't want to deal with the hassle, I'm more frustrated with no bluetooth.

I was mad that the G5 came with a smaller screen and volume rocker on the side, so I took a pass there.

I almost just bought a V10, but saw that the V20 was about to be released. I think I can stomach the larger size device, and am watching to see if the volume rocker is on the back or the side.

The Note 7 is appealing. If the V20 has volume on the side, then it will be a tough decision between the V20 and Note 7.

Lastly, I can't find any info but the Nexus "Marlin" seems like a possibility. Since my G3 has substantial bluetooth issues, I will likely be forced into a near term decision with either the Note 7 or V20.

I'm going to be getting the V20 once it's available in the US. I like the 5.7" screen along with a removable battery. I hate that I'll lose my volume rocker on the back, but will put up with that and take everything else the V20 offers - except the exploding battery.

Look on the bright side. The Note 7's problems may well get corrected (I'm led to believe that this is highly likely, involving little more than a different battery), but all the negative publicity could still significantly lower the phone's price.

I wouldn't be surprised if it plays out that way.

Having a removable battery is a big deal for me. Tomorrow I'll be in an all day meeting, and will simply carry an extra battery in my pocket that I can swap when necessary in my G3.

The Note 7 is a very fine device, but for me not having the ability to swap empty batteries is a problem, so I'll be planning on the V20 as my next device. I suspect I'll become a UUUge fan of the secondary screen since it looks like it will actually be a useful help for me.

Waterproof capability means nothing to me, so I have my device selected. I just need Verizon to start selling soon.

Still happy with the G3. It does what I need and battery life is still good. If I start to see the battery life get worse, I'll just get a new battery first and see how that goes. I am due for an upgrade in a few months, but with the new VZW plan that I'm on, I can only purchase it through the monthly payment plan, which is of course, paying for the full price of the phone. But in many respects, that $40/month charge on the line I was getting was actually paying for the full price of the phone anyways, so with this new plan, in a year, if I want to switch to a new phone, I can without penalty. In the end, even though VZW was "subsidizing" the cost of the phone, you still were paying for it in that monthly line charge for the phone. Found that out this last go-round when my daughter upgraded from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S7 (which she loves).

Also, once my current G3 is no longer being paid for, my phone bill will drop $20/month. So, the longer I can make this phone go, the better. I'm not rooted, I'm careful with it, so unless there is some major security flaw, I'll stick with it. Worse comes to worse, if Nougat comes out eventually via Cyanogen, I'll use that (I'll miss the stock camera and HD pictures though).

I'm still pretty happy with my G3 but I think I'll be updating to either the V20 or the Pixel XL. Gotta wait and see on the latter, obviously. I was close to pulling the trigger on the Moto Z Force but I read too many concerning things leading up to seeing it.
