SO unhappy with marshmallow 6

so i just installed the new update, and all i can say is it's trash, its pretty much bricked my phone, my battery drains faster than anything I have ever seen in my life, my phone is lagging ridiculously, they changed the fonts and app appearance of a bunch of stuff which was completely unnecessary, and they ruined power save mode by not making it save power on what i choose, now its either on or off, with a constant notification on my bar showing it, maybe im just being whiny but this is another perfect example of fix it until its broken, Oh and just for reference about my battery drain, its gone from 28% to 13% in the time it took to type this and all i have is the screen on

What phone? I'm having no problems at all on my T-Mobile LG G Stylo. Fonts didn't change visibly, no lag, no unnecessary additions, no battery drain issues.

U C has an S5. The fonts changed? Did you have custom fonts before Unhappy Customer?

It's good practice to boot into recovery mode and wipe the cache partition after a large update. I prefer to do a factory reset. It helps to get rid of any data or other gunk from the old OS and device will usually run a lot smoother.
Not sure about the issue with the font.

I skipped the FDR because I just did not want to face 3 or more weeks massaging my phone to get it back to where it is today.

It seems to be, getting a bit better on battery life the last few days.
I have done a couple of restarts, and a Clear cache partition.

I just don't want to ever do an FDR again if I can do without it....
too much pain for me..... I have a lot of custom apps set up, and all of that gets lost... back to a brand new app, have to train it again... no thanks.

One of the reasons I root. If anythings acting up a quick wipe and app restore fixes most issues in just a few minutes.

If UC can confirm what device they use, we can get this moved into the device specific forum for support. Unless its a Nexus, manufacturers change a LOT on the base android update before it gets to your hands. Changes you see I likely won't.

Personally, what I hate most about marshmallow is that it destroyed the ability of some apps to automatically toggle data on and off. Tsk.

That's also the problem with updates - even for security. Google can't leave well enough alone until it is time to put some of the updates in a new release.

Haven't seen a security update for Motorola yet. They were supposed to occur every 4 months according to the Moto help forum.

It's a major update so you may see some problems after the update. You may need to do a factory reset. And some apps may not work properly anymore if they are using exploits no longer available on the new OS. Or some older apps may need updating. But in general most stuff work fine.

I was hit with an automatic reboot that deleted all the Google Play apps on my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5. This update appears to have engaged a factory reset, as I also lost my home screen, lock screen pin, game progress and much more. I also lost access to my home wifi with Optimum, getting "Incorrect password" or "Authentication error occurred" messages. I changed my password for Optimum no avail. Optimum Support directed me to the network map, which indicated there is a separate password for the router. Using that, I was able to restore wifi access. Now I can start figuring out all the new stuff. I hope this helps others.

Last year, i bought a brand new Nexus 5. I activated the phone and downloaded all my apps. Everything was smooth and fast. I cant remember if it was kitkat or lollipop out of the box. A few days later i received marshmallow OTA and I updated. After i updated the OS and rebooted, the phone was laggy and i noticed some severe battery drain. I think that the phone was still downloading and updating in the background, The phone was like this for a few days and it took a couple of reboots to settle down. Ever since, it has been fine.

My Note 4 was a bit slow for about a day after MM installed.

I purposely did a Restart on it a couple times a day, and it settled down to being the same as 5.1.1
can't really tell any difference.

There is not much I do before I install a updated. All my photos are automatically backed up with Google photos and Drop Box.
I don't save text messages. Emails I want to keep are put into folders and saved with the email service I use.
I will create a copy of current Call Blocker list and a Nova Launcher backup.
After a factory reset and signing back in, all apps are re-installed, Nova restores my home screens and app drawer.
Then I sign in to the apps that need it .
I usually can have my phone back to the way I like it in under a hour.

I only preform a factory reset after a large system update, like from 5.x to 6.x.
Small monthly security updates, just a cache wipe in recovery.
Hopefully my next factory reset will be after 7.0 update.

On my Note 4, when it updated from 5.1.1 to 6.1 I did not bother to do a FDR on it....
for the first time, Verizon left my phone all alone, and nothing on it changed materially...
so, I decided to see how long it needed to go before I had to do an FDR "to fix things"....
never did do it....

Now, though, that phone is waiting on a new battery, that has now been lost for the 2nd time by FedEx Smartpost

My S5 is also now running 6.1 and it too, has not had the FDR done on it... again, Verizon left it alone, it did need 2 or 3 Restarts to clear a few things up as regards to be "slow" for a while, but I just attributed that to 6.1 doing a lot of background housecleaning. decided again, to wait it out and see what happens. but the next day, it too is running just fine.

And I also have all my stuff backed up, and using Nova Launcher Prime makes life super easy to change to a new phone, or restore the one I have. Went from my old S5 to a brand new Note 4 and it took less than an hour for the Note 4 to look like, and work like, my S5 phone.... love it.
