Help Condition of the phone's battery

Hello. I'm having some problems about overheating of my phone.
Tried everything I could that related to software. I think the problem's root is hardware.
I'm thinking that maybe its battery is misbehaving or malfunctioning.
How one can tell if the battery is misbehaving or malfunctioning?
I don't want to do a pointless action by purchasing an another battery if the current battery is actually healthy.
Thanks in advance!

Have you taken the battery out and given it good looking over? Is it bulging anywhere, even very slightly? Any distinctive odor?
If it doesn't look odd and your S5's battery life hasn't dropped down recently I'd think it's still OK and something like an overheating issue is more with your phone. When you state the battery is 9 months old, is that referring to when you bought the S5 itself or to a replacement battery you installed? (The S5 model is around two years old now).
Does your phone heat up only when running certain apps or is it more of a constant problem? Have you tried rebooting your phone into Safe Mode and seeing if it heats up then too?

I think it would be better to see for yourself, I can't decide tbh:

The battery is as old as the phone itself. Bought the phone last year.

The battery lasts until the very minimum, %1. Then the phone shuts down, obviously. No instant shut downs.

Never heard of Safe Mode, I'll try that.

It is a constant problem. Apps really don't matter, it is overheating. But of course longer length of using the phone will effect more.

Thanks for taking the time to post those pics but to be honest they won't help us much. If it was a matter of the bulge it would be really noticeable right away on your part, the issue is if it's more of just a subtle one. Basically just lay it down on a table and then flip it over, and if its more or less just flat on both sides that's what you're looking for. But for the most part any smartphone battery is just going stop holding a charge when it fails, the bulge thing is just a problem that happens every so often but rarely.

Let your phone run in Safe Mode for several minutes and see if it heats up the same way. If not, that's a possible indicator some app you've installed previously has become a problem and is taxing your phone's resources to the point where its heating up.

After you reboot back into normal mode and take a look at your Settings >> Battery. Do you see anything odd that's running all the time? If you tap on Android System that should show you a listing of various system-related processes. Anything there that might not seem right? I'm still hoping it's a software issue and not hardware related. There's always the last-resort option of a Factory Reset.
Try install this 'Trepn Profiler' app. It lets you run power and performance profiles on your phone. It's a little obtrusive when you're using your phone and you have the these semi-transparent testing boxes on the screen at the same time but maybe something will stand out to help you diagnose what's going on.

I don't see any obvious battery bulging there. The date stamp on the back of the battery in the last photo is 07 22 2015

Was the phone purchased brand new in box and from a reputeable dealer?

If the phone was purchased used or from a friend then the battery could have been replaced. There are alot of fake batteries on the market.

It doesn't flip like a beyblade like the first one in the video. :) It spins like the second one.

I tried to run the phone in Safe Mode and it was somewhat better. But I can say there was not much difference.

I couldn't completely understand how that Trepn Profiler works but do I just let it run on power and performance profiles? And if it finds something excessive, is it gonna tell me?

The leather case didn't help then, I take it? ;)
Hah! I remember you. It has yet to arrive :p

Yes I purchased it from an official distributor of Samsung last year in September. It is opened right in front of my eyes. It was a brand new. All was okay 'till the latest software update. Then, bam. Hello sweat and slippery!

I tend to back up all data prior to an update. That way I can factory reset right before the update to clean out all the junk that builds up in the application and memory cache.

Only then I install the update

Directly after the update, factory reset again to clean everything up again. Then proceed with re-installing everything and putting all my backed up info back on the phone. It helps immensely to have that clean slate with a new update.

to bad that can only be done with a rooted phone :(
The thing is, I've already done those. Of course, not before it is too late, I mean not before the update messed up the system.

After that, I root the phone, backup with TWRP, clean the phone by using "clean the system to install new ROM" option which cleans almost everything, even did NANDErase, clean EFS partition and finally, install a brand new original Samsung ROM. Still not as same as before...

But I have serious doubts that those steps above I did actually clean everything. Therefore I ask something important to you: why even after I downgrade to KitKat from Lollipop I still end up with the new Lollipop's battery off animation? Everything should belong to KitKat's system. Right? So, is it possible that all those cleans still left something behind?

You need to flash a stock rom with Odin. The system partition is not wiped with TWRP. I have found this out also.
Install this app. Take screen shots. Place photos in a cloud. Link here.

I'm going to call in some help. @Jfalls63

If nothing else has helped, I'm afraid it might be a Hardware issue.
Sorry, I should have added that I flash/install ROM through Odin after cleaning is done by TWRP.

Ok, I'll add them in five mins. Yeah, please call the cavalry, I need their help ALOT. :D

Looks to be your CPU that's running hot. Not the battery. Also says your Android version is 5.0 lollipop. That is definitely a jumbled mess of firmware

@ironass might be able to help.
Oh it is Lollipop that's right. I've uninstalled KitKat three days later after realizing it was no change in overheating behavior. But the original Samsung KitKat firmware I installed has indeed Lollipop's battery off animation. That tells me something left from previous system. Makes sense. I ran out of ideas how further delete them though.

You mean the warning? If so, no never. But at some point the CPU went 80 celsius under load. The battery also reached above 40 celsius at one time.

I've never tried it, but have seen it work for some. I'm wondering if it will upgrade to MM.
If you want to try and let Kies3 flash your firmware, follow this guide
http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/skp/faq/1072789
It will select the most current and correct firmware for your device based on Model number and SN.
You're right it will upgrade to MM because it is the most current. I rather stay in Lollipop. I've used MM on this phone actually but not flashing via Kies. It was like Lollipop in terms of overheating so I returned back to Lollipop. But I'll think about flashing MM again by using Kies this time. Not sure it'll help but even if there is a slight chance its fine by me.

By the way, in case the Kies way won't work, what should I do? I was hoping it is not a hardware issue because it is happened right after the update. Could the firmware update damage internal competent or even the battery maybe? I can't RMA to Samsung too because the Knox counter is tripped :x

Firmware update should not damage hardware. Sometimes there is data and other junk left behind of the older version that causes glitches with the new.
Always a good idea after installing a OTA update, especially a large update like from 5.1 to 6.0, to at least boot into recovery mode and wipe the cache partition.
I prefer to do a factory reset.
