Notifications question

I'm coming from an iPhone and love the s7 edge but am still getting used to it.

The question I have is when I'm on my phone and get a text message I hit reply and it'll pop up in a little box. After I reply it still shows I haven't read the text the I replied to. I find that odd. Is that normal or how do I fix it??

I find that same problem with emails also. I'll clear my notifications and it continues to pop up saying new email. Do I really have to open every email for the pop up to go away or should just clearing the notifications work??

Thanks

Unfortunately, that's how it works. You have to open the messaging app and review the message for it to be marked as read. The message notification that shows up on the live screen is a convenience/interruption where the user can choose to view, reply or close. Reply and close do not trigger.

Personally I like it, because sometimes after a quick reply while I'm busy doing something, it reminds me to go back and check the message.
Thanks for the quick reply!

What about email?? I'm constantly getting junk emails all day long so I usually just clear my notifications without actually checking the email, but I swear it keeps popping up saying new emails. Maybe it's not the same emails but I think it is.

Do I have to open up every email just like the text??

Everytime you get an email, you will get a notification. I suggest that you flag the senders of the junk email so that it will go straight to the junk folder and you won't be alerted.

As for the pop up, are you using the stock sms app?

Thanks. Yes I am.

So do I have to open the email up for the notification to go away completely or not?

You can go into your Gmail settings in the Gmail app and change it so you don't get notifications for every single message.

I didn't see that in my settings. Any clue how??

Also this is random but I was on phone this morning talking to someone and when I get a text I can hear my notification sound like my ringer is on, even though my phone is on vibrate.

Is there anyway to make it vibrate while I'm on phone instead of being loud in my ear??

Thanks

For the settings do the following.

1. Open Gmail app.
2. Slide from left to open menu.
3. Go to settings.
4. Go to you Gmail account
5. Go to inbox sound & vibrate
6. Unchecked notify for every message.

I hope that may help you.

I am not sure about the notification while talking.

There is a setting in the app for notifications while on a call.

Open the phone app itself > more > settings > call alerts > notify during calls = turn it off
