Help 6P Issues

Battery life seems to be getting progressively worse. During 1st month of use, consistently got 30 hrs of usage with 4 hrs SOT; now get 12 hrs with 2.5 hrs SOT w 25% at end of day; same usage pattern. Clear cache every 2 - 3 days; no change. Have not done FDR.

Cannot upload pix to FB with any browser: chrome, boat, dolphin. Dolphin & boat do nothing. Chrome fails with not enough memory error. Clear recent apps, clear cache, reboot - same signature. Checked permissions - see no obvious issues. Ideas?

As @damu7411 is eluding to, screen on and uptime are only parts of the battery equation.

A poor signal will leave the phone constantly searching for a better one, and that'll eat through battery fast.

If you haven't already, download an app like gsam battery monitor and leave it going for a few cycles. Monitor it and see if anything looks out of the ordinary. If you have a rogue app eating cycles this can usually detect it.

Finally, make sure your sync settings are conservative enough for what you need. For example: If you don't care about checking your email constantly, turn the sync down on that. Disable facebook sync if you have the app installed.

If nothing else is fixing it, it may be time for a factory reset. Cleaning the cache's just isnt as good as a full factory reset.

Poor signal is not the issue. My issue prevails at home with strong wifi signal - same as since putting 6P into use. Screen brightness is one factor. Originally had brightness at ~25% with adaptive brightness on. Now need to run higher brightness, still w adaptive on. Have tried adaptive off, with lower brightness and no significant change in battery life. I also manage all radios: nothing is on unless I need that radio. If just reading eBook then 4G, BT, GPS are all off - just habits since DroidX days.

It sounds as if you have an app that is misbehaving. Facebook is a prime candidate, it is a known battery killer. GasBuddy and WeatherBug are two others that have been known to cause issues, particularly GasBuddy if you have Bluetooth on -- it keeps the phone "Awake" (without the screen on). Something like GSam can help identify which app is using data; though without the phone being rooted, it often misreports some app activity as Android activity (as apps use common Android libraries for many of their functions).

Evidently Nougat effectively renders "App Sucker" apps obsolete. I just updated to DP5 on my Nexus 6P and the GSam app has a pop-up stating that one app is now forbidden to track the usage of another app. In GSAM, selecting the Apps usage line now shows all installed apps with 0% power usage next to each one and a new item called "Combined App CPU". Hopefully those developers work something out with Google because this looks like, and smells like, how iOS <gag> defeats the collection of this kind of data.

If you are rooted, you can set the app as a system app and it should then have access to the battery stats.
