So, self explanatory. Wife has Note 5 and it's a great phone, but she does have quite a few little annoyances about phone.

She does need to factory reset after the couple major OTA's, battery life is absolute crap lately. Chances are that clears up quite a bit of those pesky annoyances...

But, 32GB and no SD card isn't cutting it. And she is the most non techy person i know (almost, lol). She really doesn't save all that much on phone, but I still have to go in there and delete stuff so she can update apps. She tried to take a video at Guns and Roses concert and couldn't. I went through and deleted tons of stuff and saved 3gigs at most.

The space alone may make upgrading worth it.

But I'm curious, what are other reasons to trade up from last years Note?

Not sure she'd like the Edge display.

But it all comes down to size. She wants the biggest phone, that's why she loves her Note phones.

That makes sense. The S7 actually feels really good to me, and I like big phones also. I never use the S Pen, that has nothing to do with why I got the Note phones in the past. It's all about screen size. But for a grand I don't know if I can stomach paying that much for what is a .2" increase in display size over the S7.

So i'll be going from the Note 5 to the Note 7..Tmobile of course. The question is this...how easy is Smart Switch? Got a lot of videos and pictures...Does Smart Switch just use the cloud or do you have to transfer everything on the computer and then transfer it over old school style?

As much as I like the idea of pre-ordering straight from Verizon (because we have a corporate store right here), I think I'll end up pre-ordering with Best Buy. The simple reason is that Verizon is not offering any kind of promotional bundle: and Best Buy is offering either a Gear Fit 2 or a 256GB microSD card. For the same amount of money? I'll take a free quarter-terabyte card any day!

Pre-orders start at MIDNIGHT :D

Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't going to pre-order, but am now considering after hearing abou this deal, the $$850 retail price and after being pleased with the phone after watching hands-on video. I'm going to be getting it, might as well get some extras. There is no best buy where I live but maybe I can do it online.

WHOA - according to this article, Verizon is offering the same bundle!

http://phandroid.com/2016/08/02/where-to-buy-the-samsung-galaxy-note-7/

That contradicts what the Verizon CSR told me this afternoon... and CSRs are always right, yeah? :p

To set this rumor straight contained within the link:
Verizon
Verizon pre-orders will also start on August 3rd online only. Buyers can choose between a free Gear Fit or 256GB microSD card. Pricing from Verizon has not been announced.

I believe the CSR was actually correct because I received my email from the big V and it makes no mention of giving any add-on freebies.
Price to buy $864.00
Monthly cost $33.00 /24months

Actually, you need to receive your phone first. Then go to the Samsung site here: https://promos.samsungpromotions.com/galaxyoffer/

Enter your info, and you'll get your gift ...

I was on the verge of migrating but for now I'm holding back. If you don't use your phone under the rain or inside of a bathtub, and you don't upload gifs to tumblr or something, I don't see anything that can improve your experience with the note 5 significantly.

I guess value is in the eye of the beholder. I see many things that will improve my experience when I upgrade from my Note 5 to the Note 7.

Note 7 advantages over Note 5
- Bigger battery
- SD card slot
- Greater base storage (64GB)
- Water resistance (people do spill things sometimes)
- Faster CPU, faster Graphics
- Improved HDR screen
- Improved software interface - including a Always on Display with 3rd party apps now, ability to reduce display to 1080 or 720p to save power, cleaner Touchwiz and notification area and settings, etc
- Updated S-Pen features (translate, Peek (keep another app open to "peek" back and forth), and yes the gifs which I think are cool)
- Iris scanner (if you care about that, I don't)
- Cool gifts as a bonus (free 256gb micro SD or Gear Fit 2)
