3.5mm Stereo Jack Workaround/Fix

Hello It has come to my attention that not everyone knows about the 3.55mm Stereo fix/workaround

you can make the jack use stereo instead of mono by downloading
the app named toggleHeadset that can be found on market or at anda.pk / the non-market android application database

It may be posted elsewhere but pdragon stated in his FAQ/Known issues thingy that there was no workaround...
so I figured i would provide it again...

If I turn off and turn on my Hero with my headphones still plugged in, my headphones are not recognized at all. To resolve the problem, I have to unplug my headphones, and restart the phone again. This is a reproducible problem with my Hero. I've seen similar behavior mentioned on the regular HTC Hero forum, but not these exact steps. Anyone else experiencing this?

you can also "trick" it into pumping out stereo by inserting the jack a little bit until the headset icon pops up and then inserting it the remainder of the way.

In my earlier post when I detailed my call to HTC, I forgot to mention that they confirmed this was a software related issue (not hardware) and was also going to be addressed in an update.

I did not know this
good find

Hi. I tried searching on google and the forums and I couldn't find instructions on installing this from my computer. Since it's not on the market, and I'm new to the phone, I was wondering if anyone could help me in installing this on my phone.

When I click download (and my phone is plugged in via mini-usb), do I save it to my phone and then I should be able to install it right from the phone or what?

Thanks!

Had the same issues myself.
