Root New Help Rooting Phone with Connection Problems

I bought a Galaxy Exhibit the other day to use for a while until I receive my Galaxy Note 7 next week (and to use a spare phone for my family), but it has issues. I'm wondering if rooting it and flashing another ROM would fix everything.

I'm having problems connecting to the Google Play store. When I try to download an app, one of three things happen:

1. I get a Google Authentication error message and then am asked to login to my Google account (but it doesn't give me an option of where to do so - I can only click "Ok."

2. I receive the DF-DLA-15 error saying that the app can't be downloaded.

3. It will actually act like it's going to download the app, but then it just sits on "Starting Download."

I downloaded Kingroot to my phone, but my phone won't parse the package.

And there's no SD card included with the phone...

Am I stuck, or could someone please help me from here?

Firstly, the Exhibit doesn't have a very big internal memory. So a minimum 2gb mirosd card would help.

The "DF-DLA-15 error" error you're getting should be fixed if you clear the application cache of the "Play Store App" in your apps.

Looks similar to this but says Play Store with a play store symbol. Scroll down a bit and hit clear cache, then try to re-download the thing.

Also kingroot app doesn't work on our device. If you'd like a working rooting guide, go here. ( http://androidforums.com/threads/how-to-root-galaxy-exhibit.874432/ )

Thanks! I have been on the phone with both Google and Samsung. I have forced closed and cleared data and cash for Google Play Store and a couple of other programs. I've restored the phone to its factory settings. I've cleared the data on the phone. Nothing has helped.

The Samsung rep even had to send me an APK for Google Play Services to install on my phone because it wasn't on there.

I can purchase a 2gb micro card; that shouldn't be too expensive.

But would rooting solve the connection problems I've been having? My intent is to possibly install another ROM once rooted that would contain all vital programs that the phone needs.

Rooting and flashing a custom ROM COULD HELP POSSIBLY! Its worth a shot I mean won't hurt unless u do something with "root grantation" you shouldn't. & ya you're going to need that SD card to flash anything!.... Get with me when you're ready & I'll walk you through how to get rid of kingroot for american Super SU & Wiping/flashing properly n show you how to use TWRP or CMW most likely due to you're phn model etc.

These run very cheap. If you see a bigger card like a 16gb for $5-10 dollars, it's a steal.
Absolutely!..... I'm a Sandisk fan but blew mine out with partitioning and repartitioning sizes on "freshly flashed" ROMs lol...I'm using a 32g brand name is PNY "High performance." But ya its worth an extra few bucks for more G's of memory. Believe it or not K-mart has sandisks etc. class 10 & etc. 2G will allow recovery IMG at least a ROM or two, gapps & a small backup maybe a LIL music but ur gonna fill it quick like that. Anywho don't want to get you going TOO fast we'll stick with getting you Recovery 1st a ROM gapps, Supersu...Then if you want some more internal space we'll work on Link or Apps2SD. Dev Vicky bonick over at XDA's app.....
more features. NEVER use swop though you're SD card e'll last a week! lol.....OK though between myself and Guggy Ur gettin hella spoon fed here lol. Always do you're research so you knw! & don't have to ask... nothing wrong with askin for help that's why AF is here! and AF is VERY liberal.. they'd jump you're case elsewhere!....Devs and users of they're products alike did they're research and READ!.....& devs are HIGHLY UNDER APPRECIATED AND DONT MAKE A PENNY UNLESS WE AS USERS OF THEYRE PRODUCT/ROMS ETC. HOOK EM UP...They do this for the same reason we do!..... the natural high![emoji12]

Lol well ur gonna have to do some READing and digging... First things first n most important thing of all is find the proper recovery IMG for you're device. You're device is most likely CWM hardware button manipulated recovery... Use either flashify or Rashr app's. There on play store. There both very handy get er done root utility's built by very accomplished devs. As soon as u flash recovery boot into recovery and make sure the IMG took. That's you're VERY NEXT STEP!

And did you follow Guggys directions? Sounds like was puttin you up on the proper root method for you're device. Did you get that far with Guggys provided link?!

Thanks! I have looked through Guggy's directions. It seems pretty self-explanatory, but do I run these programs on my PC with my phone connected by USB? I did enable debugging.

Where would I find the proper recovery IMG for the phone?

Also, I'm not able to download anything from the Google Play Store. Does this mess-up the process?

Lastly, his post says to use Super One Click. Is this similar to CWM?

Nope! CMW is a custom recovery & no one doesn't HAVE to have playstore. Guggy provided a link for you!.... Is you're phone Kingtooted or not rooted etc.?

& only need PC if there is no one click root apk like KR to do ANY of this.
My mistake Guggy who has this device explained Kingroot won't root this device. I'm not sure all the details because I don't own the device But I know the ins/outs of all this. But Guggy has this device so apairently you MAY need pc! Kingo root is another great one click rooter you could try. But you need to install kingo user off play store or Google its contents and download that way if you can't use playstore. But ya follow Guggys root instructions for you're device and once you're 100% you have root next step will be recovery and a nandroid of you're stock ROM just in case. This is VERY IMPORTANT!

I was finally able to root and made a nandroid backup! Do you recommend a certain custom ROM?

And the ODIN link provided in the forums is wrong; it's empty. And my computer blocks every site through which I try to download the program. Without that program, can I flash a custom ROM? What other program could I use?

You now need to head to the all things root thread for you're device and see if there is a custom recovery IMG for you're device then use rashr or flashify apks to flash the IMG. If you can't use play store DL these flash apks I mentioned off Google but beware some things on google install maleware into you're device so run a trojan remover after DL. Idk...Its jus what I do to remain safe. And ALL these ROMs are built by a VERY accomplished dev called Phenomx4! So jus run one then maybe try another see what you dig. Lemme knw when you have flashed recovery. you can either keypress into recovery after you flash it or use a rebooter apk to boot into recovery. But ya lemne knw when you have properly installed custom recovery and we'll get you're stock ROM nandroided and properly wipe the stock ROM so it doesn't "bleed into" you're ROM you're going to flash!

And with recovery comes easily knocking KR out of the way for SuperSU. you'll need SuperSU's latest zip off Google and we'll flash er after gapps! ROM, gapps then superSU I that specific order! Again text after you have recovery. Sorry my responses have been slow I've been a lil busy lately!

I was finally able to install TWRP by flashing it through the Rashr app, and I am now running AOSP 6. I really like TWRP much more than CWM.

I'll probably try-out a couple of other ROM's as well.

Thanks for all of your help!
Wow!... Sweet!....and of course TWRP is much better!.... Big shout out to Hroark13 for building TWRP for us all in the 1st place!... Dudes AMAZING YO!.... Glad youre running a ROM now man!... Nice job! And thank you for thanking me. Unfortunetly I'm no dev.... Jus knw how to use what they build!...

Oh ya! Some ROMs like Phens come with SU installed as I'm sure you now know. In the future with some devices and ROMs you Might have to flash su zip to "knock out" KR or whatever you used to get device rooted! Cheers and flash on!
