My 5x arrived today and I've now got it all configured for my commuting life between USA & Sweden, w/T-Mobile LTE in N. America and when roaming (2G data) at connecting airports in Europe & Telenor w/unlimited HSDPA+ data when in Sweden. I will also finally retire my nearly dead-battery iPod Touch from heavy podcast listening duty and migrate my subscriptions seamlessly to the same Pocket Cast app running on the 5x with everything synched.
I'm loving the fingerprint app control. A big upgrade from typing in my 10 digit PIN many times per day, or living without any security on my Sweden phone. The 5x has very useful dual-SIM setting options and snappy performance. So far, these points alone make me very happy I bought this over the only other decent-review, budget dual-SIM phone sold with a US Warranty -- Asus Zenfone 2 Laser.
If the powers who influence what goes into the updates are listening, I wish the short-cut screen was customizable (there are no wifi hot-spot tethering or airplane mode toggles! [found airplane mode option later on the power-off screen, but also found there is that sound on/off option is duplicated -- taking up the space I'd want to put hotspot on shortcuts]), or at the very least there was a better widget option to supplement those shortcomings on the home screen (only shortcuts to selected settings pages are offered, so still, no one-button toggles).
I am not an NFC-for-payment convert so I don't care about that being absent, but I've seen enough charging ports on both android and IOS devices become loose and unreliable over time, requiring fidgeting with the cord or connector to get charging started. So this time I'm going to try using wireless charging from the outset to preserve the micro USB connector. Since the 5x doesn't support Qi directly, does anyone have a specific product recommendation for an aftermarket Qi wireless charging receiver that fits the back of the 5x without blocking the fingerprint sensor? Also, a case that is thin enough to not interfere with charging, but still giving decent drop protection?
Thanks in advance.
