Hey guys,
I know there are threads about Sprint's terrible customer service, but this one is a little different and more specific to the Evo. Here is my convo with Sprint rep Kelly.

Kelly G has joined this session!

9:17:43 AM :
Thank you for contacting Sprint. My name is Kelly G.

9:18:46 AM :
Kelly G: I received your chat request form but I need a little more information to better assist you. Can you please provide additional details about your question?

9:19:09 AM :
Me: Great. I had a few questions about my account and some questions about your upcoming devices

9:19:44 AM :
Kelly G: Sure, Let me know your concern.

9:20:50 AM :
Me: First the devices. I see the Evo 4G is coming out in three weeks. Could you give me details about the phone?

9:21:28 AM :
Kelly G: Sure.

Kelly G: The HTC EVO 4G features the latest version of the increasingly popular Android platform. You

Lots of them are reading from scripts and predetermined responses. It's a catch 22. Let people answer freely and you get variable quality. Restrict their responses to pre-written ones and you lose flexibility to answer specifics. Likewise, lots of these people are not always even that knowledgeable. Call centers tend to be located in BFE and pay very little. I know because I used to live in BFE and worked at a call center :) Not exactly rocket scientists working there.

I think the chat for almost all of these telco companies is handled offshore. chat seems to be the easiest way to get poor customer service response.

I haven't found their phone support to be all that bad in the past.. I would rate it slightly below Verizon but far better than AT&T, in my personal experiences.

Two years ago, when I had problems with my MotoQ (problems other than, "why the heck did I buy a MotoQ?") I had bad experiences with Sprint Customer Service, and swore when two years were up I was out.

Since then, I've had a couple good experiences with them. I don't know if the Service (in my experiences) is any better than other carriers, but I wouldn't call it a negative anymore.

I figured that. But would it have been too much to say "Well you might need to call in to take care of that concern."?

*sidenote, I'm in Baltimore too are you going to BB to get your phone?

yeah I know. I was just trying to get a definative answer on wither or not you would have to pay the $10 fee if you didn't have 4G at your location at that time.

The $10 is for 4G availability. Not for your area, but for the phone. 4G does not have a cap on it. Even if your area does not have 4G, there is nothing magic that is in your phone stopping you from getting 4G access. Let's say you live in NY where there isn't 4G (yet) and you come to Baltimore for a Yankee's O's series and you stay for 5 days. If you weren't charged the $10 you would be getting 4G uncapped for 5 days for free.

The funny thing about this is that at least half of the AT&T chat people are in the US
