My phone will charge when i connect, but it wont connect to internal memory

As the title says, my phone charges, but it won't connect to my internal memory, looking at the options i could see, tried putting Media device (MTP) and it wouldn't connect, tried to put it on USB storage, and it wouldn't connect unless i turned on USB STORAGE on USB mass storage. Yet i couldn't connect to my internal memory, (the one besides the SD card), and that is where all my music is and generally most of my files are. i use the SD card for apps and such as well, but mainly the internal memory card.
Main reason why im asking this, is because yesterday in the morning, there wasn't this problem. In fact, if i were to plug it in, it would show the phone name ("Platinum 6.0") and inside i would be able to access both the internal memory and the SD card in one. Then, in the evening, when i needed to put something in because i forgot to put it in, in the first place, this situation happened.
Oh by the way, before, yesterday morning, i could access the phone without it disabling the SD card like when you connect to it, like I connect to it now thanks to this situation.

Also, i did try different ports.

If i could get some help on this, that'd be gladly appreciated.

Welcome to our AndroidForums, Jerry!

Have you tried a different cable?

I actually have problems getting my desktop to see the "SD card" area on my Nexus 6P (or my Nexus 5, for that matter :p)...but I'm 99.999% sure it's because of USB driver conflicts (I've got a lot of Android devices and have installed tons of USB drivers (adb & fastboot) over the years--never cleaned 'em up).

If a different cable doesn't help, hopefully someone else will chime-in with a suggestion.

Cheers!

Why thank you, and no I dont have another USB cable, i sold my last device to pay for this one.

You could try to use a different PC or Laptop and check if it works, maybe a driver issue; and one more thing, I am not joking but have you tried turning it off and On again [both the device and PC], I had the same problem and resolved it by restarting my PC . Hope it also works for you as well.

Nor do i have another PC. since it would be a waste since this is my main and only laptop. No desktops here.
And i have restarted both of them. Even did a Factory Reset. No dice.

If your data can be effectively transferred without any errors when selecting USB storage, I don't think the USB cable is at fault.
Neither do I. And I can transfer to my SD card, its just that I can not access my Internal memory.
With my old phone it would lock access to both in the phone and create a drive for each (F:, G:, I have multiple partitions) in my laptop.

You can try reinstalling the MTP drivers on your PC; With your device connected in MTP mode open device manager> Goto USB section> Look for an MTP device> Right click on the device and click uninstall [also delete the driver software if asked by device manager]> Disconnect your device from the PC> Reconnect in MTP mode and allow the drivers to install again.
