This first thing to do is to determine why it's not compatible. Which version of the Ellipsis do you have? According to the DJI Go spec's it requires KitKat 4.1 or greater.

It could be the difference between working well, working with issues and flat out not working at all.

If it's simply that the app is tested to work with your device, then you can probably get a copy directly from the developers. Most are more than willing to help. If you want to try to sideload it, the safest way is to borrow a device that is compatible with the app and install it from the play store. Then use a backup program (like Helium) to back up the apk file and copy it to your Ellipsis. Then you enable install from unknown sources and use a file manager (like Astro or Xplore) to install it.

Please understand that you assume the risk, which may include anything from flaky behavior to a full brick. Always always always back up your important data from your device before you try and do anything outside the realm of normal use.

What I specifically recommend NOT doing is searching around for uploaded copies of that app, especially from 'free' download sites. Those most likely have been tampered with and can be vectors for serious intrusion or damage.

Good luck. :)

Hmm, so it should work. I'd contact the developer directly to see if they can tell you specifically why it says it's not compatible. I'd assume that it has a GPS radio in it and at least WiFi if not LTE, too.

When I looked at the app, it said all of my devices were compatible which includes a Nexus 6, Samsung Note 10.1, Samsung Tab 4 and an older Nexus 4. The Tab 4 is running 4.4, the Nexus 4 and Note 10.1 are running 5.1 and the Nexus 6 is running 6.0.1 so I don't think is a version thing.

Chinese drones. :thumbsupdroid:

i contacted dji and they refused to help
Possibly because Dajiang Innovation can't actually test, fix or determine compatibility with a United States only Verizon Ellipsis in Beijing or Shenzhen, China.

There's a direct download to the app on DJI's China site, which is safe. As there's no Google Play here and so manufacturers often provide direct download of their apps for China.

Could try sideloading that, see if it works or not.
