So a month ago I got the Nexus One w/o a contract with T-Mobile and I loved it, however T-Mobile's service was terrible, so I sold it for what I bought it for (minus taxes) dropped T-Mobile, and found a deal on Amazon for a $20.00 HTC Hero with Sprint. I went ahead and ordered it but it actually doesn't go back in stock until around the 21st of May(possibly having something to do with Sprint releasing Hero's preloaded with 2.1??), so I've been stalking the forums ever since.

I'm really not one to throw down hundreds of dollars for a phone, so I don't think I will be doing that again, when you can always grab last years hottest phone for $0.00 - $50.00 at Best Buy/Amazon/Ebay, but I find myself already wanting the Evo(I love large screen and I've experienced the snapdragon cpu on my nexus one) and I haven't even gotten the Hero yet. I've heard of people getting early upgrades from Best Buy, but I'm curious if anyone thinks it would be possible to get one literally a month after starting service. I'll obviously check it out on my own, but if that were the case, I'd hawk the $20.00 Hero I am getting soon for ~$200.00 on Craigslist/Ebay and bam, $20.00 Evo after all is said and done.

Either way, I'm enjoying the forum and all the community guides and help. Peace.

Yeah if you can hold out til the evo releases and are within your 30 days... RETURN IT! I love my hero since recently rooting to Fresh, but I'm with ya that huge screen is appealing to me. And I Sized the Hero with the HD2 from TMobile (same size as the EVO) and not that big of a difference, just seems WAY bigger because its pretty much all screen.

Not to mention state of the art hardware that no phone can match .

That's not entirely true. The Evo's screen is crappy 65k colors. Even the Moment has a better screen, though not as big. Also, the internal memory on the Incredible has 8GB built in plus you get to use an sdcard. With the Hero you have an 8GB sdcard that is supplied but when you need more space you have to replace the sdcard. Those are just two examples off the top of my head and there may be more. The Evo is going to be a nice phone, but there are other phones out there that are as advanced or more than the Evo.

You've mentioned these things when I've stated that the EVO's hardware trumps pretty much everything out there right now. Ok so what if the screen shows 65K colors.. Did you watch the video on Phandroid? The display is still amazing for it showing "crappy 65K." Considering that we can't put the applications to the SD card (unless you are rooted) 8 GB is more than sufficient for the normal users needs.

Overall, the phone is arguably going to be the best mobile phone available on the market when it is released.

I think you are missing the point. It is arguably one of the best on the market but it is not perfect. 8GB may be sufficient for you, but for others it is certainly not going to be. As you mentioned apps2sd, yes having the incredible with 8GB built in will ensure that the incredible will run apps much much faster as internal memory is way faster than any external memory. Regardless of how much you like the Evo, it is not so superior that it can be labeled the best phone out there. If I could have the Evo or the Incredible on Sprint I would take the Incredible for the memory alone. My previous post was not so much to knock the Evo, it is going to be a good phone no doubt, my comment was trying to put a little truth into this discussion. When thefoodman said no other phone can match the Evo's hardware that statement is false since there are plenty of other phones that exceed the hardware of the Evo already.

lol, I have already mentioned two phones in my posts. The screen of the nexus one and moment are better than the evo. The memory is better on the incredible. The nexus one has two microphones to help with noise cancellation. These are all things done better on other phones. It doesn't mean that the Evo isn't good, it just isn't the best phone ever. There is no one android phone yet that takes the best all around hardware and puts it all together in one phone.

The funniest part of everyone who can't look objectively at the Evo is that I bet you will be in the Evo forum soon after getting one complaining of all the bugs it will have. Anyway, you guys wanna pretend the Evo is perfect go right ahead. I have better things to do with my time than keep pointing out the same flaws over and over about a phone that isn't even here yet.

Dude, you named literally ONE thing from two different phones. Whereas I kept saying that it was going to be the best OVERALL phone out there. Don't tell me that I'm not looking at the EVO objectively b/c I am and perhaps more clear and objective than you claim you are.

PS - You never mentioned the N1 until right now.

Show me where in this statement you said Overall. You are right about the nexus one, I mentioned the moment's screen being better before so now you have at least two phones with a better screen. There is little doubt that the Evo will be the best on Sprint, but I am sure there are many who would take the Incredible or Nexus One over it. Not to mention the coming Samsung Galaxy S, though I wouldn't touch another Samsung myself. Now you guys can continue your lovefest for the Evo. I have said my piece on it and I am out.
