S7 Edge or Note 7?

So, I popped over to T-Mobile today to switch from Verizon. They didn't have the Note 7, of course, given the recall. So, I got an S7 Edge. However, they told me that, given the circumstance, I could most likely switch over to the Note 7 once it comes out again. How is the Note 7? Is it better than the S7 Edge? I might stick with what I have, if there isn't any major differences. My main concern is screen size, which I know the Note 7 barely wins, battery life, which I know the S7 Edge barely wins according to some comparison sites, and processing power/speed, which I don't know which is better.

I would get the Note 7. I got the Edge 7 and regret every min of it. I wish I could throw it against the wall. Samsung was definitely able to refine the curved screen with the Note 7.

The thing is, the Edge 7's side bezel is not great because the screen is literally the side bezel. So whenever your fingertips are on either side of the screen while you text or browse a webpage it is ruined because of the pressure your fingertips make to the side of the screen. This makes the screen think you are trying to do something else now that your fingertips are actually on the side screen versus a regular screen phone with no curve. Since there is now pressure on the side screens cause by your fingertips, the keyboard stops working because it feels pressure on the sides.

They fixed that with the Note 7 by not making the curve so dramatic and the side bezel is now improved where you can put your fingertips on the side and there won't be pressure applied to the screen.

Wouldn't the problem be solved with a case on either phone? I have very minimal case on my note 7 and still don't hit the sides when I hold the phone to talk or type on it. Not that I'd choose the S7 over the note 7. I really wanted the note.

Thanks everyone. I did decide to switch to the Note 7, depending on what deal they can give me. I just got my phone yesterday, so if the guy can do what he thinks he can do, I'd get what I put down for the phone back to go towards the Note 7 when it comes out.

Just my .02 cents before you get the Note 7. Like a lot of the people on this forum, I really wanted the Note 7 after the reveal based on specs, etc. However, as a daily driver since 8/18, I had a few gripes that slowly started to annoy the heck out of me (switched to an S7 Edge due to the recall):

1. For starters, the fingerprint scanner was hit or miss for me. When it worked, it worked flawlessly, but therein was the problem. I added additional fingerprints, re-did existing fingerprints - nothing seemed to fix the hit or miss nature of the scanner. Been using the S7 Edge since Friday and man, the difference is night and day. It works, it works fast, and it just flat out does what it's supposed to do.
2. Performance hiccups with the Note 7 started to get more aggravating. Now, I'll say again, they weren't widespread, but they did happen enough times to make me wonder (long pauses when going through menus, opening apps, switching between apps, etc.). This is where the S7 Edge has really shocked me - I'm using it the same exact way I was using the Note 7 and the hiccups are practically non-existent. I honestly couldn't get over the difference since the skin is essentially unchanged sans some new icons and features in the Note 7. The S7 Edge is just plain fluid, which is a welcome change from my Note 7.
3. In my limited usage thus far, the battery on the S7 Edge seems to perform better than my Note 7 did - again, under the same use cases for me (streaming on Spotify, reading news articles, surfing the web, the occasional game, etc.)
4. The form factor on the Note 7 vs. the S7 Edge has been really surprising too. The S7 Edge feels better in my hands than the Note 7 (I'm 6'3" and a former basketball player, so I have big hands!). I thought the edges on the S7 Edge were going to annoy me, but they haven't. Yes, they are tapered more on the Note 7, but I now see that they aren't as bad as I thought they would be on the S7 Edge - I've become comfortable with them.

The only major difference is on-board storage (32gb on the S7 Edge vs. 64gb on the Note 7), but as it would turn out, the 32gb seems to be sufficient for me (I know, this is purely subjective and is no way indicative of an absolute for everyone) - doesn't hurt that I'm using the 256gb microSD card that Samsung gave me for the Note 7! The S7 Edge feels lighter in the hand too compared to the Note 7, which freaks me out at times, lol.

Aside from that, the screen resolution (pixel size is obviously different due to the 5.7" screen of the Note 7), processor, RAM, camera, and water/dust proof certs are all the same. I really didn't want to like the S7 Edge.. but I've been pleasantly surprised by it and don't think I'll be swapping for the updated Note 7.

That is interesting. I have to go back to T-Mobile to hand them my early termination bill from Verizon, so I'll probably ask to at least check out the Note 7, if they have a display copy still. My only problem with the Edge so far is the sides. My hands keep pushing buttons and moving stuff just by the way I hold it. I'm hoping the case helps with that, but it is extremely annoying.

If it's any consolation, I'm using the Spigen Neo Hybrid Crystal Case (which is awesome by the way! - love the slim profile, feel, grip, and matching color bumper) which, based on the fit, might be helpful for you with the edges. Here's the link on Amazon.

The Note 7 looks better for multimedia. The S7 Edge looks a little to skinny to recreate the screen resolutions I grew up on watching media TV, Slideshows & Movies.

If it's any consolation, I'm using the Spigen Neo Hybrid Crystal Case (which is awesome by the way! - love the slim profile, feel, grip, and matching color bumper) which, based on the fit, might be helpful for you with the edges. Here's the link on Amazon.

I usually go with an Otterbox Defender. I got a cheap case off of Amazon (10 dollars) to hold me over until I do or do not switch to a Note 7. If I decide to stay with the Edge (after I test out the Note 7), I'll be replacing it with one of those.

Edit: My cheap case came in today, and it keeps my hands off the edge of the screen perfectly.
