This is why better app permission control is needed in Android

Marshmallow changed the way Android handles permissions in a fundamental way, but even that is not enough. The Golden State Warriors' Android app uses a phone's microphone to listen to audio in the background through a technology called beacons.

The technology is from a company called Signal360 and it's done without your knowledge. Even if you're not a basketball fan, these beacons can be utilized in other apps without your knowledge.

Phandroid runs down how more transparency in Android app permissions is necessary when technology like this is being used.

That app seems to only tie to Android News. No way am I loading an app for something like that.
Or you can continue to use a broken app like Tapatalk? Which has been broken for not showing news post URLs for a long time.

Known problem with Tapatalk, not fixed. And presumably the devs in China are just not interested.

Tapatalk works for everything else, and the version I use has a good UI. So once again, Tapatalk is not the problem.
