Report the $10 fee to Sprint

I guess it depends on each person’s individual situation in regards to what their needs are plan wise, but in our case, Sprint is not cheaper than AT&T, in fact it would actually cost my partner and I $5 more for us to get EVOs than if we were to get new iPhones on AT&T (assuming AT&T’s rates stay the same).

Sprint: $180
AT&T: $175

so you are getting 10 times the speed, a better network, spec wise a much better phone and your complaining about 5 bucks????

when 3g first came out there were charges and such for those phones that were mandated just for having the phone on your plan.

IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD 10 DOLLARS YOU SHOULDNT BE GETTING THE LATEST AND GREATEST SMART PHONE.

The problem with your statement above is the fact that, yes, 4G is the "latest and greatest;" however, it will be the NORM in less than two years.

The question is...will they charge an extra $10 for 4G on EVERY phone in the future? That's absurd considering Hesse himself said that they can produce a gigabyte cheaper than the competition with 4G. So why would they charge more for something that they can produce more cheaply?

Just my opinion here but with this phone you'll probably be using 5x to 10x the amount of data than if you were using a regular 3G phone. There is no reason why Sprint can't reserve the right to charge an extra $10 for that.

No doubt that Sprint will gain a lot of new customers they desperately need but their costs are also going to increase significantly with this phone. It's perfectly reasonable to charge an extra $10 for unlimited. I mean, it's not like you're getting charged $20 just for text messaging... like verizon and att. It's getting you UNLIMITED 3G and 4G data.

Time to buck up and stop just assuming you'll be getting everything for free. Even with the $10 add on you're still saving in 90% of the cases when compared to Big Red and the Death Star.

Sprint should kill that $10 fee, and to make up for it they can kill Sprint Navigation, Sprint TV, Sprint Radio, Nascar Mobile, and NFL Mobile.

Nobody is going to be using those anyway, and if someone wants them, they can pay the extra $10 to get them.

I'm actually curious to see the video quality of sprint tv over 4G. It actually might become an app that's worth.

But yeah, the nascar app can just die for all i care. And with the free turn by turn navigation on google maps now the branded sprint navigation really becomes a mute point.

Dear Sprint,

I'm totally cool with you charging $10 for unlimited 4G blazing fast awesomeness.

Best regards,
GiftedPlacebo

Dear GiftedPlacebo,

Its not really for 4G but a way to tax you for having a new phone. We will tax everyone else who gets this phone even though they don't have 4G service (thus not really a fee for 4G). We stated it would be free, however we lied, so sue us. But if we have enough people swallowing our BS, why not!? You are foolish enough and thus we thank you for your service.

Yours truly,

SPRINT

Since Sprint's customer base is 3rd or 4th on the list, shouldn't they be cheaper to gain customers? 4G's infrastructure is cheaper to run than a 3G one so why the need for the extra $10? It's not like everyone will use their phone as a dedicated high speed modem.

I think the reason they charge extra $10 is future planning. Data plan will be $40 instead of $30. 5G infrastructure will cost less than 4G's but the data plan will be another $10.

I just wish the $10 charge was at least better detailed, it's very annoying at this point.

I tried to dispute the charge and possibly get a discount added to my account to offset, but no matter how I went about it, the bastard rep kept countering with semantics, and comparing it to other charges associated with other companies.

I wouldn't mind paying the $10 charge if it was more than an arbitrary "Premium Charge", just be upfront about what it does!

I won't be getting 4G for a long time, and as is, I hardly use 300 megabytes a month on my data plan, so I'm getting nothing out of paying this charge.

lolz I bought a Mercedes but it's an injustice that I have to pay extra for repairs!!! How unfair of Mercedes to FORCE ME TO BUY THEIR CAR THEN FORCE THEIR PRICES ON ME.

RONG comparison. The rite comparison is to say "I bought a Mercedes and because they assume im going to look cooler and maybe drive faster Mercedes is charging me a monthly fee because they feel those are priemum features of owning a mercedes"

It has nothing to so with data usuage, it has everything to do with they feel they are offering a premium product (EVO) and want to add a tax to that!

I dont care either way but I find it funny that Sprint finally has 1 good phone that is at the top in their existence as a company and they want to charge a tax on it hahaha!

It has nothing to do with affording it. It has to do with why am I pay it and what do I get. I dont understand not putting the 240 in the product price cause in the end that all they are doing is chargig you what you are prbably saving upfront in the price. Again you are not paying for data, you are simply paying for the phone.

Uhh..that's pretty much exactly what Mercedes does. YOU pay a HIGHER price for something that carries a certain esteem. Would it make a difference if Sprint would have added a 240 price when you bought it? I can bet that 10 dollar fee will be gone after two years. And considering everyone is running to retentions and getting the 10 bucks pretty much knocked off means that is not really a mandatory fee.

I'm sorry though, I forgot that a 10 dollar month fee is tantamount to civil liberties being violated.
