This works; it puts the voice-to-text on the keyboard, where the "settings" button was before. Just install the "lowres" version 23 or newer. It doesn't instantly appear though, you have to enable the alternate keyboard after running the APK. (select it in the "input" settings, then long press on a entry field, and choose "HTC_IME Mod" as your input method).

I downloaded vlingo, and I will keep it because it is pretty nifty, but what I would like is something to replace the stock keyboard if I am going through the normal process of texting. I dont care to leave the texting fields to go click on an app and all that.
Will this thing from xda do that?

I guess from what I read here, and on XDA, this is what I am looking for.
Im just unsure of how to install this if I download on my computer. Same process as leaking?
Make installing .apk files easier - get the Astro file explorer. The keyboard mod does not have to be in the root of your SD card. Just pull it up in file explorer and open it, install it, and then refer to the directions in the original post that detail using a long key press to modify the keyboard used. You'll also want to go into the phone settings and change the input method there as well.

Thanks. I didnt want to download file manager, because I have had the phone this long without needing it. But if it really makes this so much simpler, I guess I will.
The directions seem simple enough from there. Ill give it a shot.
I guess I can delete Astro after I am done getting my keyboard anyway.

I downloaded v25 lowres and installed the htc ime mod . apk using astro, it took a long time to install, and under text and input I have only htc_ime mod as my keyboard, it is selected, and I have it checked for voice input on and I do not see the mic, I have the settings icon and when I select it the phone goes to the regular htc settings.

What did I do wrong?

I even reset the phone.

EDIT: never mind you have to enable it on the keyboard when you are typing... doh!
